An assembly suitable for key stages 2-4 that explores how people judge each other on areas such as appearance and were they work. It also looks at the variety of interests and tastes that exist in the UK. The assembly is quite interactive and requires some participation from the audience in terms of suggestions for what the images mean to them.

A murder mystery exercise. Split the class into pairs or groups of three. Give each pupil the you decide worksheets to jot down their findings. then: -Starter: As they sit down introduce the mystery using the presentation to get them engaged. They need to work out who was 'responsible' for the murder. - Put sources into three envelopes and give them to the groups in 5-8 minute intervals so it feels like an ongoing investigation and they are not swamped. - Finally discuss their findings.

An introductory lesson to some of the most important places for a number of world religions. There is a lesson plan with it that helps you to deliver the activities successfully. It encourages group work and all information sheets on the Ganges, Mecca, Canterbury, Golden Temple and the Western Wall are included.

Designed for the new Edexcel History specification to be taught from 2016 and first examined in 2018. A 22 page stand alone booklet for the Modern Depth Study that you can print off and distribute to students. A great way to get them practicing each type of exam question. - All sources are included in the booklet - Before each question there is a tips page with key information on how to approach it - For questions 1 and 2 there are two different types of question so they have more chances to practice - A box is available so teachers can comment on how to improve - The correct space is allocated for each question so pupils are aware of how much to write.

A generic double lesson that could be used in a variety of subjects as an introduction to aspects of leadership. The lesson is based around ideas of pupils and then looking at 3 case studies - Abraham Lincoln, Karen Brady and Alex Ferguson. After looking at summaries of their life stories, pupils can debate similarities and differences in their experiences, turning points and other interesting observations. Certainly creates debates in the classroom! I have used this as an introduction to Jesus and also for a Growth Mindset themed day in school.

An assembly aimed at exploding the myth brains are fixed and don’t change. It looks at the science behind neuroplasticity through a video link and real life examples. Finally it looks at how these findings can be applied to learning.

A collection of 15 ready made quizzes to use with your groups. Each quiz is split into 3 sections - General knowledge, Movies/famous faces and a single 'ave a go' random question. The answer slides are included in each quiz. I split my groups into teams and then have a leader board going through the term. I have included a template for you to make your own future quizzes. In the template is another section called 'in the news' which you can add questions about the previous weeks news. I obviously removed them from the ready made quizzes as now outdated. All of these are great for building group rapport, competition and of course having a giggle.

A lesson that explores the life of Jesus through key events in his life. Pupils can look at his life in chronological order and make inferences about it using quotes from the bible.

A lesson that allows pupils to explore two parables of Jesus and use pair work to find out the key meaning of them. Also includes an example exercise using the Good Samaritan parable and animation.

An assembly that can be aimed at pupils from KS2 upwards. Explores the idea of friendship through real life stories and the many different ways it can manifest. Themes explored include friendship in times of extremes (POW camp), Olympic athletes and also historical using a story from ancient Greece. I have used this simple activity for the past few years as an introduction to History in year 7. Though it can be adapted for other subjects. Give pupils 10 minutes to walk around and find people who they a share a hobby etc with. Put a cap on naming the same person twice to avoid friendships. Then go through each question and get their views. This is where you can discuss social History and tell them about topics they are going to learn about.

A two page homework task that gets pupils to attempt a series of inference questions based on posters from WWI and WWII. This is good as an introductory homework which can then be followed up the next lesson with some self and peer marking.

A double lesson on Operation Mincemeat. The story of how the British used the body of a dead tramp to trick Hitler into thinking the Allies would attack at a certain location in the Mediterranean. The lesson has a link to the BBC documentary on YouTube (look in notes on PP slide) and a data capture sheet for pupils to complete afterwards.
