Two examples of explanations for lower KS2 English lessons. WAGOLL These texts can also be used for creative writing purposes. The first text explains how giants became extinct. The second text explains how young fairies develop the ability to fly. Both explanations contain an analysis of the language features to include in the pupils' own explanations. These example texts can be used by pupils to: - observe the features of explanations - rewrite the explanations using their own language or by borrowing phrases - write other explanations in the style of the author These explanations are probably most suited to pupils in years 3 and 4.

Two tests of 12 questions which give pupils practice in unscrambling anagrams in a grid puzzle for verbal reasoning. Multiple choice. Words contain 3, 4 or 5 letters. Answers provided, instructions and example included. Instructions: In each question there is a grid containing 9 letters. Underneath there are five more grids with some of the cells shaded. If you place the letters from the top grid on top of the shaded cells, one of those options will spell out a word when the letters are re-arranged. Choose the grid where the letters in the shaded cells make a word when the letters are re-arranged.
