An 18 slide PPT which explains The Greenhouse Effect and Global Warming. Suitable for junior students. Explains how the Greenhouse Effect is a natural occurance. Discusses the causes of global warming and possible solutions. Contains some cartoon illustrations, diagrams and links to 2 YouTube videos- one short clip from the National Geographic and another animated cartoon to facilitate visual learners. Also attached is a think-pair-share graphic organiser, used to introduce the topic, as well as a cloze test on the topic, which I use as an in-class assesment that is peer-corrected. The to-do slide at the end of the PPT directs students to the Geoplanet workbook by EDCO. This can be adapted to suit your own book.

A 2 page word document which summarizes 'Rocks'. Explains the formation of Igneous, Sedimentary and Metamorphic Rocks, giving 2 examples of each. Also discusses the uses of rocks. Good resource to hand out if revising the topic. Could also be used in initial teaching.

A 39 slide PPT based on soils. Includes images and graphs. Key points are underlined for easy note taking. Discusses how soils are formed and what the main components of soils are. Has a link to a Youtube clip which reiterates soil formation key points and explains the different layers of soil in basic terms. Then explains the soil profile/layers of soil. Finally mentions Irish soils and discusses brown soils and podzol soils in detail. Contains some ‘to do’ and homework slides which can be adapted to suit the class/curriculum. All transitions/animations are in place so it’s ready to use! Textbook and workbook referred to in PPT are ‘Geoplanet’ by EDCO.

A two page word document which summarizes volcanoes, mid-ocean ridges, the Pacific ring of fire & the life cycle of a volcano. Includes all the key terms associated with volcanoes and has a labeled diagram. Also briefly touches on the pros and cons of volcanic eruptions. I made this to revise the topic with my 3rd years. Includes a very simple diagram to supplement the description of their formation. Also included is a cloze test which recaps on the topic and can be used as a form of assessment or as homework.

A 15 slide PPT based on Dutch Polders. Aimed at Junior Cert geography students studying 'settlement'. Discusses how the polders were created and how rural and urban settlement was established. Last slide is a 'to do' slide which refers students to a worksheet. I can't attached the work sheet as it is from a book as it copyrighted.

A 25 question 'Haribo' quiz based on Secondary Economic Activities. Aimed at Irish Junior Cert Curriculum but most questions are universal and can easily be adapted if they don't suit. A great way to revise the chapter before an exam and also very good for assessing students' understanding/memory of the topic. I use Haribo jellies as the prize so I call it a Haribo quiz! Students love it!
