World War Two play script

(0)
This is an original play script written for Key Stage 2 but could also be used in Key Stage 3. There are speaking parts for at least 25 children, as well as non-speaking parts, but extra speaking roles can easily be added. There are recommendations for suitable songs to go with each scene, although these would need to be bought/downloaded separately. It is based on four modern day school children who go back in time to discover more about life during the war. It includes scenes about evacuation, rationing, the homeguard and other aspects of everyday life.

This is a short story based on Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. The original story is great for stories in imaginary settings, but doesn’t involve much in the way of punctuation. This story is 1 A4 side, so perfect for a model text or WAGOLL. It takes the story of Max and uses lots of the phrases from the story but adapts it. This time, Max argues with his brother, which is why he is sent to his room. A mountain grows in his room, which he climbs and then finds the Wild Things. Instead of making him a king, they throw him in prison. Will Max escape? Language features include: fronted adverbials, 2ED sentences, adjectives and adverbs, use of speech, Suitable for KS2
