This resource includes an engaging set of activities which has been tried and tested in the classroom in upper KS2, but could be used with other age groups. Downloading these activities will drastically cut your preparation time.

A series of activities to investigate the uses of key sites in South Wales during WW2 using carefully chosen aerial photos. Images of 1940’s locations and modern day equivalents are included. The children should look carefully for similar evidence and try to match the images. Aimed at KS2/3, the pupils will be encouraged to observe, discuss and participate in further research about the locations. This is a tried and tested classroom resource. Learners will brainstorm descriptions of the location and scene of Dracula’s mysterious and eerie castle. They then write a detailed account using the information they have gathered.

A full unit of work based around creating a talent show - This is a rich task aimed at embracing the principles of the new curriculum.
This resource includes an engaging set of activities which have been tried and tested in the classroom in KS2, but could be used with other age groups.
Video clips, worksheets, suggested activities, presentations, a plan for your show, job descriptions and evaluation materials are included. A comparison is made between 1960’s talent shows and the modern day format. This was used at the end of a topic based around the 1960’s.
Pupils measure the shapes (1960’s objects) on the worksheets and calculate the perimeter in decimals. The images are popular 1960’s icons and memorabilia.
BS (Lower) - Measure the squares and rectangles to the nearest cm
AA (Middle) - Measure the squares and rectangles to the nearest decimal in cm
MAT (Higher) - Measure the squares, rectangles and circles* to the nearest decimal in cm
*A small piece of string is needed to measure the perimeter of the circle.
Pupils correctly add up all the sides to find the perimeter. A simple video link to allow pupils to recap on the method required to work out the perimeter of polygons has also been included.

This cross-curricular presentation that requires pupils to work out the co-ordinates of locations on the WW2 map of Europe. It covers 4 and 6 figure grid references. There is a clever video link included with this resource to start the lesson.
You could print out the maps for use in lessons, therefore some preparation is required in order to get the best results. There is an extension sheet provided in publisher format.

Fictional report of an air raid on a Welsh coastal town in 1941 by the German Luftwaffe.
