These are WAGOLLs that I used to show the features of postcards to my Year 2 children. It was linked to the story on The Town Mouse and The Country Mouse.
Year 2 Division Mastery Challenge Activity
This is a division challenge which I gave to my more-able Year 2 children. It will require them to use reasoning skills to solve and explain their answers. I have uploaded a PDF and a publisher file. In my original I had my school’s logo and photos of the children’s faces under the chefs hat. I have left spaces for this if you would like to do likewise.
Year 2 Fraction Challenges
These are some challenging maths tasks involving fractions. The first challenge, creating different patterns, was accessible to all in my class. The mastery questions have 2 versions; one with prompts on the bar model and one with blank bar models. I have attached a PDF and an editable publisher version.
Position and Direction Year 2
This is a differentiated (LA, MA HA) position and direction activity for Year 2 children themed around the story The Town Mouse and The Country Mouse. Children will use the vocabulary, forwards, backwards, left, right, clockwise, anti-clockwise, turn and move to both follow and give directions.
Year 2 Magic Maths Mastery
These are differentiated activities (HA, MA, LA) which I have used to show that my children are secure in many areas of maths. We did this lesson over a couple of days. The questions are on a variety of topics including number, fraction, geometry, money and statistics and all problems link to the idea that the children are running their own magic shop. I have included PDF files and editable publisher files. The questions are presented on 14 labels to a page and can be printed on labels or on paper and sliced into packs.
Year 2 Position and Movement Challenge
This is a challenging activity where children can apply their knowledge of movements and turns. They will be given map and follow orders (which can be printed on stickers). The task requires children to follow and give directions. The children will use the language move, forwards, back, left, right, turn, clockwise, anti-clockwise an be able to describe turns ans a 1/4 turn or half turn. This task works particularly well with small toy soldiers to move around the map. The activity comes as a pdf and a publisher file which can be edited. The Activity is differentiated HA, MA and LA. For send children a large map could be copied and children given verbal commands and larger soldiers to move.
