✮ Faire les courses en France - A lesson on French culture ✮
These printable handouts accompany a video about grocery shopping in France on YouTube. The video is not my property and is not downloadable with this resource. You will need to watch it online. The video is about 6 minutes long, and this resource includes one page with 12 questions in English to share with your students for discussion about grocery shopping and preferences prior to watching the video. The second page includes 12 questions written in English to be answered while watching the video. There is a vocabulary list in French and English of all 39 French words introduced in the video. Finally, to wrap up the lesson there is a fun crossword puzzle to complete. The clues are given in English and the answers are in French.
These resources make it easy to transform a short 6 minute video into a comprehensive cultural lesson that you’ll feel good about using with your students.

✯ The movies - ESL - ELL Taboo Speaking Game ✯
Playing TABOO is a great way to get ESL students to speak English and learn a lot of new vocabulary. This game is simple to modify and use with beginners and advanced students alike. In this MOVIES version of the game there are 35 playing cards. I’ve included 2 fun ways to play this fun vocabulary game and both are explained in the instructions.

**Object of the game **
One player tries to get his teammate to guess the word at the top of a card. The player must give clues, but he can’t use any of the Taboo words in his description. The taboo words are written beneath the word at the top of the card. Teams score points for each word successfully guessed. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Beginner students should be allowed to use the TABOO words printed on the cards. This will encourage them to use new vocabulary and will help them in forming sentences to use as clues.

This week long French writing program will have your students writing every day. This writing program includes five pre-writing and writing activities for Monday through Friday. The theme for this set is JE N’AI PAS PEUR DE… These writing prompts are a great way both to introduce and to review writing. Provide each student with a “paragraphe de la semaine” folder and have them add to it every day as you give them daily assignments. At the end of the week have them turn in their folders.

Here’s how this program works:
✍Lundi: Je dessine - Give students a drawing page with a writing prompt at the top. This will have them beginning to think about the writing theme for the week and is their first pre-writing assignment. Kids love drawing, and the pictures they draw will later serve as inspiration!
✍Mardi: Mon livret de vocabulaire - Each student receives a booklet to help them explore the vocabulary related to the week’s writing theme. The front page includes the writing prompt of the week and an image. The second page includes over 80 frequently used French words. Page three lists 12 words that go along with the theme of the week, and the back page has space for ten words that students have either thought of on their own or looked up in the dictionary. The booklet is a simple one page printable that you can either fold in advance or have students do it on their own. Kids write their name on the front cover and you could have them color it.

The words they choose can be a combination of words they have chosen and themed vocabulary that was already written in the booklet. Advanced French conversation questions - L’Avenir - Le Futur
Part of our series of discussions ciblées for advanced French students. List of 35 vocabulary words related to l’avenir - le futur with 20 thought provoking discussion questions. The questions are suitable for upper level and AP French or for middle and high school French immersion. This resource is especially useful for your chapter technology and the future.
I like to print the list of words on one side of a page and the questions on the other side so that students can easily refer to the new vocabulary during their conversations. If you make a two sided copy everything will fit on one page. A page with French vocabulary and no English translation for immersion programs is included.
Also included is are two sets of speaking cards for students to use prior to using the discussion so that they can become familiar with the theme and many new words. The cards just need to be printed and cut out so that your students can use them in pairs or small groups. Each card says, “Décris le mot suivant en français et ton partenaire le devinera.” The vocabulary word is written both in French and English since many of the words will be new. This exposure to the vocabulary will make the discussion that follows flow easier. Students will still have easy access to the list of words on the other side of the photocopied questions. A French only file of these cards is also included, and these include images.

French Christmas skit and reading comprehension - Noël - Mini-dialogue
This is a French dialogue about Christmas between three people. The title of this skit is Un Sapin de Noël Géant. Short skits or dialogues like this one can be used in many ways during the weeks leading up to Christmas. Have students work in pairs or small groups to read through the skit and maybe even perform it for the class! This skit can also be used as an individual reading comprehension assessment. 14 reading comprehension questions are included. The skit can be printed on one side of a sheet of paper and the questions on the other for a really easy, NO PREP Christmas activity. The grammar level is intermediate. Most of the verbs are in the present or passé composé, and very few pronouns are used. Your students will learn a lot of new Christmas vocabulary, and they’re going to have a great time with this activity! Everything is written in French only.
