Edexcel CC11b Metal ores and metal extraction. This powerpoint takes students through how the method of extraction of a metal is based upon the reactivity series. It includes information on 2 biological methods of extraction and also includes a differentiated worksheet.

At the end of each quiz is a slide with just the questions on so that they can be printed off and handed out to students as a starter whilst you do the register. The presentation then goes through each questions with the answer so that students can self assess. Alternatively it can be done as a plenary and you can rapid fire targeted questions just using the presentation

This needs laminating back to back and hole punching at one end. It then present s the students with a simple flip book that shows all the key higher order thinking ( HOT) words linked to Blooms for students to challenge themselves and understand how to get to the next level in their work. I put a few on each table each lesson so that students got used to using them.

This is a presentation I have used several times to good reviews for new ITE mentors. It introduces them to the idea of mentoring and what it entails. The fairy tale activity works really well with new ITE trainees and enables the mentor to really get an idea of how the trainee is feeling without it being personal. I have included 3 examples to look at but its much better if you get your own trainees to do one and use that as an example instead.

This is the first lesson in a series of 6 lessons to introduce year 7 to Science. This lesson is titled ‘Safety in Science’ and introduces science rules, the need to follow them and introduces the new style hazard symbols also. The presentation is self explanatory and there is a card sort to go with the lesson. The next lesson is ‘Meet the Equipment’.

A lesson on Global Warming for year 8. Also included is the student mat and placemat. This was designed for an interview lesson to reduce the need for using books. It was rated as an outstanding lesson.

This is the third lesson in a series of 6 lessons to introduce year 7 to Science. This lesson is titled ‘Using the Bunsen Burner’ and names the different parts of the Bunsen Burner, Shows students how to safely use the Bunsen Burner and the difference between the safety flame and the heating flame. The presentation is self explanatory and there is a story card that i laminate to hand out as part of the lesson. The next lesson is ‘Visiting variables’
