This assembly has a focus on the RAOK challenge - random acts of kindness and is planned to be around 15 minutes long.
I played the video at the start to keep the students engaged as they entered and it worked really well.
Half way through there is another video where people are asked if one person can change the world. My head boy and girl then took over reading a script provided, telling the story of a "RAOK" movement called the karma army (this could quite easily be done by yourself). The assembly concludes with ways in which the students can carry out random acts of kindness and also looking at school charities.
Hope this is useful and saves you some time.
I taught this lesson to a low ability year 9 class and it is based on the new GCSE spec. It has a really scaffolded worksheet included in the powerpoint which you could adapt to challenge higher ability students.
It worked well at getting the students o think logically and work independently, looking at real life examples of acceleration that they could relate to.
Please see a copy of the worksheet in the cover image.

I presented this assembly to my house and it lasted about 15 minutes once everyone had come in and sat down.
It starts with a video link to base jumpers which worked really well at keeping all the students quiet as they walked in. It also sets up nicely for learning to fail as these guys clearly can't fail, but in school failure is all part of learning and so students should embrace failure. The assembly then goes through the endeavors of famous people who have dealt with failure numerous times and moved on from these set backs and learnt from them successfully. It finishes by suggesting a "a fail Friday" where across the school students and teachers alike are encouraged to take risks in lessons and step outside if their comfort zones.

This resource includes 4 powerpoint based lessons with worksheets integrated into the powerpoint so you can print them off easily. I have created it based on the new national curriculum framework which appears to be bringing a lot of content down from the KS4 curriculum.
This is followed by a fifth assessment based lesson where students complete a level assessed task.
Each powerpoint contains footnotes to explain what should be done if it is not obvious.
Each powerpoint is planned to take between 50 and 60 minutes and includes plenty of student lead learning and many opportunities for assessing student learning throughout the lessons.

This assembly is based on the fact that most people are unsuccessful with keeping to their resolutions and goes through how to set up SMART targets with real examples relevant to students.
It lasts around 15 minutes and is a great assembly for the start of the new year. It is aimed at all secondary year groups and worked well when I performed it especially when students got involved.

This assembly takes a twist on the idea of setting resolutions that are usually broken. It starts with statistics on the most popular resolutions and the further statistics on how likely people are to stick to resolutions all in a very clear and colourful way. It then leads on to students setting a resolution to learn to fail and that breaking resolutions isn’t necessarily a bad thing as long as they can learn from their mistakes and try again. It then goes on to go through some high profile case studies of successful people who have failed many times but not given up and learned from failure.

This lesson is based on the new GCSE spec, but was designed for a low ability year 9 class. It breaks Newton's first law up in to more digestible chunks which are learning checked throughout.

This assembly focuses on making a success of returning to the new normal and is based around the four Rs to success:
Reflect - relfecting on the positives that have come out of lockdown
Resilience - not giving up because they think they have missed so much school. this focuses on two countries that suffered from natural disasters but students actually perfomred better on return to school despite missing many weeks
Responsibility - this focuses on the collective responsibility we all have in following the rules that have come out of the new normal e.g social distancing, one way systems
Reac out - telling students of the support on offer if they are struggling to adapt to the new normal
This presentation will last about 15 minutes, is fully scripted and i intend to present it to all students in their tutor time via zoom.
This lesson gets students to understand through experimentation how the basic safety features of a car work by increasing the time over which an accident takes place:
. airbags
.seatbelts
. crumple zones
Students play with force and momentum calculations to help explain the safety features. They start by calculating the force exerted on an egg when it hits a brick wall and when it hits a towel (best to go outside for this one).
This lesson worked well for my low ability year 11 students as it was very visual for them and they could really relate to the content and examples.

This assembly grabs the students attention with the first slide asking them to vote whether or not school should start at 10am instead of 8.50.
The assembly goes on to look at the arguments for and against and the current research that is going on in the uk at the moment with 100 test school. I went on to tell them that unfortunately we haven't been selected for the trial but its findings could impact us.
I then went on to say that until then they should take note of the sleep scientists top tips for a good night sleep which includes the science of blue light from mobile phone screens and its effect on the sleep hormone melatonin.
This powerpoint lasts around 15minutes.
Enjoy.
This assembly starts with some nice optical illusions which leads on to the concept of perception.
It then looks at various stereotypes in school such as Jocks, Class Clown etc and looks at the qualities of each, and asks students how they would like their peers to perceive them. It then looks at how future education or employment would perceive them looking at the information the school would provide them with - Attendance, behavior points, achievement points, GCSE's and the qualities these would show if they were good.
It also considers social media and how students should be aware of what they post now could be seen by future employers.
The last few slides are to be filled in by me as they are specific to my school where I will be going over the best attendance, behaviour etc in the past month to hand out a reward.

In this lesson students are given a range of cards with select information about different elements, just as Mendeleev had. They are then set the task of arranging the cards in anyway they see fit. They then look at how Mendeleev arranged them and used them to make predictions about missing elements which the students then do. The lesson concludes with a six mark question on how the periodic table is arranged.
