KS3 long term causes of World War One. This was a lesson I taught online, hence the worksheet looking how it does but easily used in classroom too. Two helpful video clips and a variety of tasks with extensions too. An excellent resource for a tricky concept. Nice way to introduce WW1.

Work booklet full of tasks on the Battle of the Somme. video listening task to start, source analysis task. Key question around does Haig deserve his nickname “Butcher of the Somme” or not. Pupils need to use the evidence to reach and justify a conclusion. Higher abilities will use more sources to do so, but lower ability will still be able to complete this work and come to a decision.
