Students discover how important religion was during the Middle Ages by gathering up information. I stick the information sheets around the classroom (and some outside!) and students have to go track down information and write it in their books. Bloom's taxonomy in indicated on the slides. This Scheme of Work details 7 lessons with all the required resources for students learning about the Slave Trade. Designed for Y8 students this could easily be used across the rest of KS3. All lessons included differentiated Learning Objectives and many have differentiated activities. These are lessons that I have planned and taught my self so are very much ready to go! All images acquired through a search engine filtered to "labelled for reuse". You can use the Black Peoples of America textbook to support these lessons should you need.

My students get really worried when looking at "how useful is this source" type questions of the Edexcel medicine paper. This is currently Q3 of the 2013 onwards paper. This lesson seeks to build up their understanding of how to explain a source's usefulness. This lesson contains two example questions, some sentence starters to develop structure and most of a model answer. Students can then be set an example for homework. This lesson could be supported by pages 30-31 of the new edition of the Edexcel endorsed textbook (2013 edition). Comments are appreciated :-)
In this lesson students take on the role as advisors to the government. They assess the issues which are caused by war and begin to suggest solutions. Lesson plan included and audio clips as required. Comments are appreciated.
These two lessons explore public health in the period 1500-1750. Students first explore the Great Plague of 1665 and then take a more broad approach. There are some stand alone activites here but these lessons are best support by the Edexcel Medicine Through Time textbook (new edition of 2013). These lessons are ready to use. All materials are provided here including student instructions, student puzzle pieces and teacher answers. All images have been acquired through a search engine filtered to labelled for re-use. Nice set up to a sequence of lessons on Norman control over England. There is a lesson plan attached should you need it.
