In this lesson students begin to explore people's rights, these two lessons were designed to support a new topic on campaigning for rights. In the first lesson students are encouraged to explore the nature of democracy in Britain during the 1800s. In the second lesson students look at who could and couldn't vote using a series of characters. A video clip about human rights through time is embedded. This is a taster session designed to give students an understanding of Criminology at Applied Level. It was designed for the WJEC Level 3 course but the slide containing information about content and exams could easily be altered. The activities explore crime scenes, a brief introduction to criminal theory and potential career pathways.

Has that pile of books been sitting on your desk for over a week? Why not print out some stickers and get sticking! I use a range of stickers to encourage student feedback. It’s an excellent way to save some time but also encourage a dialogue. Credit to A. Wilkes for inspiration. You will require various label size papers but there are some standard envelope ones. There aren’t many September 11th lessons out there so here’s one! Now updated to include newer sliders and embedded clip. The main objective is for students to gauge how ‘complete’ a BBC news clip is. The PowerPoint includes task descriptions but please ask if you can’t follow the lesson. The bottom of the posters should be folded up so that you can reveal the answers! You choose the plenary. If you know of a short clip which was produced a little after the event that would be useful. This Tarsia puzzle covers the broad theme of 1066. This includes the reason why people were push and pulled to England up to the Battle of Hastings. I made this tarsia to allow students to revise a classic Battle of Hastings assessment. Could be used for GCSE specs if required.

A quick 20-30 minute activity which encourages students to solve problems that may occur on a desert island. Students should be organised into groups of around 6 and given a piece of sugar paper to write down their ideas. You should set the scene and get them imagine the island. Comments are appreciated.
