For the OCR ALevel Rebellion and Disorder under the Tudors thematic course
Can be adapted to any ALevel looking at rebellions against the Tudors
This is part of my series of lessons on the depth study: Pilgrimage of Grace and examines the impact/ significance in terms of what the rebels achieved/ failed to achieve. Includes practice Interps questions 30 marks.

Packed with examples with an evaluation task for students to weigh up which were the most important as factors.
These grids are to help students consolidate their knowledge in sufficient depth for their thematic essays. Some students in my experience rely on the same superficial evidence/ factual knowledge to write these essays and even though they are not to write in depth; it is important that they show off their expertise.
One grid is from rebel perspective looking at aims, leadership, support, actions threat and one is from government perspective looking at government support, response, impact an reasons for decreased threat etc.

OCR Tufdor Rebellions specification for ALevel
This lesson (2-3 hours plus hwk) examines the causes, nature, events and impact of the Lady Jane Grey rebellion in 1553 against Mary Tudor.
Lots of detailed resources to give you everything you need to teach this rebellion well.

This is a detailed and comprehensive lesson which is fully resourced on the Cornish rebellion of 1497
Includes all resources, a detailed powerpoint and several activities as well as a retrieval quiz on the previous rebellions (I teach Warbeck after Cornish)

Very detailed resources on the effects of War Communism, impact and opposition to the Bolsheviks and the reasons why NEP was introduced, what the NEP was and successes and failures of the NEP as well as impact on the Bolsheviks includes Decree on Party Unity and hints about how Stalin used this later on.
All resources are included, does not require any textbook/ additional worksheets.

Looking at Causes, Reasons for Defeat and Impact on Nicholas, part of the mini unit of work: Causes of 1905 Revolution.
Ideally you have access to the chapter from “A People’s Tragedy” Orlando Figes Chaper “First Blood” which I cannot include for Copyright reasons but if not, you can still use the worksheet in combination with the slides or the textbook for the students to do Causes, Reasons for defeat and consequences.

ALevel lesson for OCR course Russia: 1894-1941 but can be used for any ALevel with a question about Stalin’s control/ purges or use of terror.
This is an incredibly detailed lesson- my motto with ALevel is I do the reading so you don’t have to! I’ve read extensively and included a lot of detail within all the resources. Demonstrates turning points in Stalin’s rule e.g. the death of his wife and the 17th Party Congress and significance.
Also includes key case studies e.g. the Ryutin Platform and impact.
Examines the role of NKVD and various leaders including their purges!
Includes Stalin’s purges of various sectors of Russian society and the Communist Party.
Lesson for OCR ALevel spec Russia 1894-1941 but useful for any other spec involving Russian revolution- can also be simplified for GCSE.
This lesson is designed to reflect on Nicholas’ problems and explain the growth of opposition against the Tsar in Russia prior to the 1905 revolution.
Looking at the long term impact of Alexander IIs reforms such as the creation of Zemstvo and Emancipation of Serfs and the political spectrum.
Lesson designed to take 2 hours plus homework- the Marxism stuff takes a lot of explaining!
Edexcel GCSE Superpower Relations and the Cold War
This is my 4th lesson from Key Topic 3: The End of the Cold War but can be used as a stand alone lesson.
In depth examination of who Reagan was, his ideas and beliefs and his policies including increased arms spending, rolling back Communism by funding guerrillas and the Strategic Defense Initiative (Star Wars) programme. Includes youtube video clips, source work and all the detail needed for students. Fully resourced nothing else needed.
Examines how Reagan’s personality played a key role in developments from the Second Cold War to Gorbacev;s “New thinking” and need to reform the USSR (this is next lesson).
Also includes a bumper retrieval practice for Key Topic 1 and 2 Highlighter Heads to help students recall key individuals from earlier in the Cold War (includes all key individuals from Roosevelt to Brezhnev, Dubcek and Husak).
Also includes an 8 mark exam question, planning sheet, SEND planning sheet and model answer for a narrative account question on the Cold War.

OCR ALevel History Russia 1894-1941
Topic 2: Towards a Constitutional Monarchy.
This two hour lesson examines the creation of the Duma from the October Manifesto and the limits of the Fundamental laws.
Also examines the challenges of the Duma and the makeup of them and why Nicholas dissolved them each time.
