These revision diagrams are filled in as knowledge organisers to use to help students plan out the answers to the 12 and 16 markers on the later slides. The first five are just knowledge and understanding ones almost like knowledge organisers but then the following ones are set up around 12 and 16 mark exam questions. (See pics) Medieval Medicine 1250-1500, Renaissance 1500-1700, Industrial 1700-1900 and Modern 1900-Present and WWI Western Front Ideas on causes Ideas on treatment Ideas on prevention Changes/ continuity and reasons for change. For the WWI section it is a little different with problems, solutions, reasons for change and key words/ battles. You could always remove the knowledge if you wanted students to complete them themselves.

Attached are dozens of essay plans which are fairly detailed with examples of rebellions for loads of past paper thematic questions. EG for the questions such as: Evaluate the view rebellions led by gentry were most successful Evaluate the view crown was most important factor in maintaining stability Evaluate the view rebellions led by nobility were most threatening Evaluate the view rebellions in Ireland were less successful than in England Evaluate the view some regions more prone to unrest than others Evaluate the view that the church always supported the monarch Evaluate the view that policies destabilised the monarch Evaluate the view that rebellions failed due to lack of support Evaluate the view that government response to rbeellions changed over time Evaluate the view that the nobility became less involved over time Evaluate view that objectives changed over time And many more!

These model answers are for the Edexcel Paper 1 Medicine paper from 2021. This is a grade 7-9 set of example answers.

Part 2 of my lessons on Maintenance of Stabiity: this lesson looks at different policies used by Tudor Governments to maintain stability in England and Ireland. Detailed examples linked to rebellions to help prepare students for any essays related to how the government responded to rebellion or prevented further unrest using policy changes in both England and Ireland.

These grids are to help students consolidate their knowledge in sufficient depth for their thematic essays. Some students in my experience rely on the same superficial evidence/ factual knowledge to write these essays and even though they are not to write in depth; it is important that they show off their expertise. One grid is from rebel perspective looking at aims, leadership, support, actions threat and one is from government perspective looking at government support, response, impact an reasons for decreased threat etc. Example modelled on the Cornish rebellion.

Assembly for Black History Month Based on the Little Mermaid debate and why it ignores the most important issues. Also includes two iconic British black heroes who represent this year’s theme “Time for Change…Action not words” Paul Stephenson Baroness Doreen Lawrence I have written up pretty much my whole delivery in the notes section for you- I did it without notes but this is roughly what I said Also includes a competition I ran this year which was really successful for students to research celebrate unsung black and brown heroes. We have had some fantastic responses and made it into a House Competition!

This lesson is for KS3 but could be used for KS4 too- a look at the women in Henry VIII life from a new perspective- their own talents and merits rather than viewing them in Henry VIII shadow. Also addresses popular myths and misconceptions about his wives. Includes full powerpoint, information sheets and a video clip to evaluate how sufficient/ accurate horrible histories is.

This is designed for KS3 looking at life of Eleanor of Aquitaine- her strengths as a ruler and why she deserved to be remembered. It is important to not see medieval women as passive, dutiful wives and partners nor victims but to present them as they really were- fierce, resilient, intelligent and powerful.

Useful for Senior Leadership Links and Heads of Department/ Faculty/ Key Stage. My department recently had a very positive experience in an Ofsted Deep Dive. I have attached some useful materials to help other Heads of Department to support the process and to support their teams in what could be (but doesn’t need to be) a stressful experience. Firstly it is important to know- this is not a quick fix- you cannot pull the wool over their eyes if your department has a lot of work to do. However it is not a problem if you have areas of development as long as you and your team know what they are and you have a plan to address them. This is an overview resource/ learning journey for a Key Stage 3 History Curriculum and is a fully editable learning journey powerpoint. Useful for schools looking to improve their History curriculum- has been approved by Ofsted as an outstanding curriculum but can be further adapted/ improved. This is underpinned by key themes as you can see in the image. May also be useful for schools looking to build a more representative curriculum or move from a 2 year to 3 year KS3. This is for the overview powerpoint only not individual schemes of work for each topic. Our students performed really well last year after using these skills builders and we had an SPI of +0.55. The average marks for 8 mark, 4 marks and 16 mark interpretations questions were 2 marks higher than the national average.
