Edexcel GCSE Superpower RElations in the Cold War Key Topic 3:The End of the Cold War Lesson 6 The Fall of the Soviet Union/ USSR This is my final lesson in the Cold War Topic This one covers the end of the Cold War/ fall of Soviet Union and also includes lots of exam question prep/ retrieval practice and all key words sheets/ answers for Key Topics 1 and 2. Key Stage 4 or 3 Lesson on the League of Nations and why it failed to prevent war I devised a decision making game to try and make it a little more interesting and to get students to think more deeply about the motivations for the countries in the League in making their decisions not to sanction. This lesson looks at why the League did not stop the powerful nations in the 1930s through a decision making game.

Edexcel GCSE History: Anglo Saxon and Norman England Key Topic 2 Lesson covering Anglo Saxon rebellions against William This fully resourced lesson has everything you need to teach the rebellions against William. In reality it will take two lessons to do it properly and properly tell the stories of the Saxons who fought back. Covers the rebellions of Edwin and Morcar, Edgar Aethling and King Sweyn and Hereward the Wake.

This quiz took about 10 hours of my life (that I will never get back!) to make but the students loved it- just the right balance of inappropriate to be funny but still all related to the Tudor Court, rebellions and key individuals. It is mainly a music quiz with some of the rebels, Tudor characters and noblemen being represented in song lyrics…in other cases the rebellions are represented by the song. There is a round on Tudor swear words and other random trivia. Answer sheet attached- slides plus answer sheet should be self explanatory but if you need anything explaining further email me- lasts about an hour and a half including marking and going through answers- I don’t play the whole songs- just the relevant extracts.

Lesson made for OCR Russia ALevel 1894-1941 but can be adapted or used for other specs/ GCSE. This lesson is an intro to the Suffragettes for Y9- it examines Victorian attitudes towards women and looks at despite rich women having some benefits they were still repressed in terms of rights in the household, their opinions etc. Includes video clips from Mary Poppins and Oliver Twist, sources from anti-women’s suffrage posters and also discussions around how far sexual equality has moved on since women got the vote with modern adverts and stats.

Lesson for Edexcel GCSE Weimar and Nazi Germany This lesson looks at Nazi policies towards the Church including why the Church was a threat as well as support from members of the church such as Ludwig Muller. The lesson examines and evaluates Nazi policies to control the Church- weighing up successes overall. Includes colour code activity, discussion tasks, guided note making and justification of arguments. Includes interpretation evidence for the debate at the end.

This lesson is designed for KS3 but can be used for KS4 also for the AQA and Edexcel specs. It examines how far the lives of women changed during the 1920s and covers flapper culture as well as opposition from Christians and Traditional women as well as some men and authorities. Includes 3 activities - a similarity and difference activity, note taking from a video clip and explanation and a card sort with continuums to annotate before making final judgments. Considers nuances such as the lives of African-Americans in both the North and South e.g. Harlem Renaissance vs Southern Jim Crow repressed women. Also looks at age groups and rural vs urban women.

The Background to and Causes of the Tyrone Rebellion ALevel OCR- Tudor Rebellions. The 9 Years War Irish History This is one of the Depth studies- a likely exam question since the focus has largely been on the Pilgrimage of Grace and the Western Rebellion up til now. This work will take several one hour lessons - it recaps the prior Irish rebellions such as Desmond and Geraldine since the legacy of these was one of the reasons. Looks at Tyrone’s demands as well as the motivations of Hugh Roe O’Donnell and Hugh Maguire.
