These are for the Edexcel ALevel Component 3a: USA/ UK Comparative Government US and UK. 12 mark exam questions which compare US and UK government. Includes examples of both Comparative GOVERNMENT questions and Comparative THEORY questions. These are for the following questions: Examine the similarities between the US House of Representatives and the UK House of Commons (12 marks) Analyse the different legislative powers between the US Congress and the UK Parliament (12 marks) Note both the above 12 markers are on one word document. Examine the ways in which the US and UK Constitutions are different (12) 30 mark essay: Evaluate the view that Federalism in the USA is in decline. This powerpoint has been used very successfully over past two years to provide ~ITT training on issues around sex/ gender and increasing cases of sexual abuse, sexual discrimination, rape and misogyny/ misandry in schools. Why is it increasing? How is it increasing? How can we challenge it? Warning includes some triggering content but is very important for younger generation of teachers who are coming into the profession. This assembly is based on this year’s theme- reclaiming the Narrative as well as highlighting how easily false narratives have spread. Examines the role of racial bias in the media and politics in the UK and the riots of 2024 as well as the insideous nature of the anti-Haitian rhetoric from some in the USA. Idea is to promote awareness of the danger of misinformation and to encourage students to challenge one sided narratives especially if they are hateful. This taster day lesson is for ALevel History. It is largely focused around the Russia course and the February Revolution although we also teach OCR Wars of the Roses and Tudor Rebellions so has info on those too. Updated Politics Taster Day lesson for 2024 This lesson is for the Edexcel course- we cover: Feminism and option 3A USA so some slides are tailored to this. Lesson is largely discussion based with a true or false quiz to promote discussion. Covers: Corruption and Accountability, Participation and Protest etc. Also includes: careers in Politics, famous students of politics, uses of politics alevel for degree level and quotes from students as well as a breakdown of the course. Also includes some little youtube clips from comedy shows, trailers for Knock Down the House etc.

This lesson was designed after completing the UCL course on Understanding the Holocaust. This lesson is lesson 2 in my sequence of learning and examines the nature of antisemitic prejudice in Germany as well as escalation of persecution in order for students to better understand how and why having rights taken away is such a dangerous step. This lesson was designed after completing the UCL course on teaching the Holocaust. It focuses on Pre War Jewish life in Europe and is an introduction to the Holocaust topic. Students cannot necessarily understand the gravity of what was lost in the Holocaust if they do not have a grasp of Jewish life and contribution to life before it. This knowledge organiser has useful and up to date information for Topic 1 Constitution and Federalism including debates on whether the amendment process is fit for purpose and whether the constitution needs reform. Includes key words, case studies and models of federalism as well as different examples under every president since 2000. Document is a 2 slide powerpoint and covers Edexcel Topic 1 Constitution and Federalism.

Another retrieval activity for the Tudor Rebellions OCR ALevel course. This one randomly jumbles words and facts which are linked to the 5 rebellions against Henry VII. Students can colour code them according to which rebellion they are relevant to then as an extension they can try and add more detail about the facts. Eg which places are sites of battles? Which are attempted invasions etc. Answers also included for teachers new to the course or for self-assessment.

The amazing story of Harriet Tubman. Worksheet to accompany the film “Harriet” 2019 which tells the amazing story of the brave and courageous Harriet Tubman who worked on the Underground Railroad to help lead over 70 enslaved people to freedom from states such as Maryland to the free North. The worksheet has questions designed to help students understand the brutality and insidious nature of slavery as well as why what the Anti-Slavery Society and Tubman achieved was so impressive and important.

Edexcel GCSE History This lesson examines the ways in which Lanfranc changed the Saxon Church during the Norman conquest and how this enabled William to maintain control. Includes a “go find” activity which can also be used as a carousel with students working on different aspects of the Church. Could also be turned into an investigative commission where Lanfranc sends investigating Norman Archdeacons to report on wrong doings in the Church then writes a report. All info included, no textbook required. Also includes some exam questions and mark schemes/ example answer for 4 marker.
