This reading bundle comes packed with everything you need to begin assessment with your students. This bundle focuses on Phase 2 (other phases are under construction!)
Reading Phrases: a document compiled of over 100 phrases that can be used to assess reading for Phase 2. These pages are in order from set 1-5 and can be photocopied and cut out to be used for specific purposes. In addition, they come with a reference number attached to each phrase which links with the assessment material provided in this bundle.
Reading Tracker: this excel file is a whole class approach to reading assessment. Write the students’ names at the top and tick off the sentences they are able to read as you go along. Can be printed or kept as an online assessment method.
Reading Assessment: an individual approach to reading assessment. This is to be used per student, writing their names and date of assessment at the top and can be kept in their personal progress files. Based off a similar template used by Pearson, a key is provided to monitor accuracy and miscues. Provides a result into the accuracy of a student’s reading using a small table. Each page of this reading assessment links with a page from the Reading Phrases document, to maintain homogeneity.
Reading Key Notes: a document providing some example phrases to use when assessing strengths and difficulties students may encounter (can be used to inform assessment, report writing or personal notes).
Letters and Sounds: a list compiled of all the graphemes, phonemes and digraphs children will encounter in phases 2-5
High Frequency Words: a list compiled of all the high frequency words children will encounter in phases 2-5
Use these worksheets to help your students practice using prefixes. With some great interactive workbooks, this will surely help your students remember all about prefixes!
There are different activities:
Prefix Flower: a nice activity which can then be used for a display board, instructions on file
Word Part of the Week: students will need to do a bit more research into their prefixes, including finding their origin, meaning, thinking of a symbol to remember it, using it in a sentence, think of five words with this prefix then draw a picture of one of these words
Cut and Stick Prefix Worksheet: students have to cut each prefix and stick it on the template along with another word to make a new word, e.g. super + man, sub + marine, inter + national
Prefix Revision: another cutting out activity which will create a flap book. Cut around the dashed lines and stick the edge (where ‘prefix’ is written) to the second page. Flaps lift up to reveal words with that prefix. Uses information from the other worksheets to inform completion
A template for a feedback form that you can send to parents during distance learning teaching to have an idea how they are coping with the change of scenery!
Restrict Editing: set up using form functions in Word so only certain parts can be edited by other parties
Scale: easy to understand and use with clear instructions
Small File Size: won’t take long to send to parents!
Some ideas of simple phrases to use when referring to a student’s reading abilities. Can be used to inform assessment, feedback to parents or in personal notes.
