Theseus and the Minotaur summarised into six boxes with key words omitted for pupils to add.

EYFS/KS1: 12 images of animals and young to celebrate Mother’s Day. Twelve photographs of animals with their young to stimulate discussion about the relationship between mothers/parents/carers and their children. The images include elephants, lions, swans, horses etc and can be used to develop animal name vocabulary as well as care and emotional discussion.

32 differentiated questions (and answers!) to challenge and develop pupil knowledge about Medieval castles. KS1 &2 Attack or Defend Medieval Castle Activity: 12 battle statements to classify under ’attack’ or ‘defend’ on the activity board. Pupils work in small groups or pairs to discuss and categorise the statements. A fun activity to help pupils improve historical vocabulary and understanding of the methods of defence and attack strategy. Can also be used as a plenary to assess pupil knowledge following a topic on Medieval Castles.

Blank template book for pupils to use to think of information to describe a character. There is space in each box for one or two short facts. The information on each flap (box) can be structured according to the topic focus eg 1. describe the face 2. describe the eyes with an adjective or simile etc. when all of the boxes are opened they reveal the identity.
Can be used for biographies, historical figures, characters in stories, animals, science facts, numbers etc.

Can be used as a stand- alone lesson on glossaries or as part of a topic on Norman Castles. Also useful as an assessment following work on glossaries.
The glossary activities are organised into a short workbook.

To know that a glossary is an alphabetical list of words with definitions found in a non-fiction book.
To recognise the difference between a word and a definition .
To put words in alphabetical order.
To match words about castles to the correct definitions.
Page 1 Offers pupils a selection of vocabulary relating to Norman castles and asks them to select four words to order alphabetically and set out as a glossary.
Page 2 Questions about the key vocabulary and glossary.
At the end of the booklet there is a set of 12 ‘castle’ glossary cards with a description for the pupils to cut out and order into alphabetical order.
Powerpoint Poem about the colour ORANGE. EYFS/KS1. Simple rhyming acrostic poem which I wrote myself to introduce a topic on colour recognition, help pupils learn the colour orange and identify orange objects around them. Lots of ‘orange’ photos and an easy to follow acrostic pattern.

Florence Nightingale's Facebook page can be used as a reference for information gathering for work on biographies, non fiction writing, comprehension, discussion work and as a template for writing a Facebook page about a non fiction famous character or person. Can be used with KS1 and KS2.
Bridges of Britain Geography KS2 research worksheets (2). Worksheet 1 - Pupils find out about five different types of bridges (Clapper, Suspension, Tilt, Transporter, Through –arch), find an example of a specific bridge for each definition, its use and a simple drawing using non - fiction books and the internet (also goes well with Bridges of Britain information fact sheets). The second worksheet offers the opportunity to match the bridge with its correct name and compile a table about cantilever and bowstring bridges.
Sports Day Cross curricular challenges: Five physical Maths and PE challenges for pupils in KS2. Great link to sports day and Olympic and world records in the main sports events.
Pupils follow the instructions and measure their best attempts at five track and field events. Following their own efforts they can compare their personal best against the world record holders as well as their friends. Measurement, time, distance, speed, standard units of measure. Develops group work through organising , planning, measuring and recording the sports area as well as the race attempts themselves.
