I have used these resources after reading the book "Lost and found" by Oliver Jeffers. The film is edited highlights of the way a penguin moves. I wrote the music to follow those movements. The children can add instruments to it for added effect( e.g. A guiro (scraper) I have put more resources in the premium section, (an animated song with instrumental parts for the non specialist and an art worksheet. The resources can be used with the book Lost and found or a just as a song about friendship 1.There is a video of the song with percussion opportunities 2.lyrics 3 .2 backing tracks ( one without the children's percussion part) and a vocal track. There are also worksheets with examples given . There is scope for movement as the children face each other and row backwards and forwards in the chorus. This simple song encourages the children to put on their super hero boots, magic cloak, and glasses for x -ray vision before they curl up exhausted after a days super heroism! Use props or simply mime the actions in the short musical interluded after each verse or use simple instruments to imitate the action.E.g When the skeleton appears , add some bones (tappers/claves)

The ideas for the music and movement come from a short video of a series of superman actions mimed over the background of the Superman music. Then suggestions are made for the instruments to invent a sound for that movement. The aim is to create a series of movements that can be acted out with their own music.There is also a preview a superman song for sale in the premium products.

A video and suggested follow up ideas , including composing, following the work and life of Sir John Tavener. He died in 2013 and his music is well worth a listen to . In order to comply to the size of download that the TES will accept I have put together video with a lower resolution so the quality is not brilliant but acceptable.

A cumulative song in an animated PowerPoint or video with matching large pictures and a worksheet. These can be used to alter the order of the song or for flash cards etc. There are also 2 mp3s , backing and voice. With the backing track, you can use it for all sorts of songs according to your topic. E.g. Animals, people who help us etc. The tune used is "One man went to mow" Children could listen out for the guiro and play with the song. Also, they could enter the garden in the way an animal would move.

This song is a humorous, potted version of all the kings in the Plantagenet era. After each song and chorus is an interlude for the instruments to play. It’s differentiated. If it’s too difficult, ask the children to invent a drum and tambourine rhythm to play over it. This counting down song is designed for non music specialists to feel confident taking instrumental music. The words scrape, scrape, boom, clink suggest a guiro, a drum and anything metallic. The worksheets -3 - Children examine the completed picture and compare it to their worksheet. They have to identify what is missing and draw their own in the space. Using the mp3s , you can substitute the name of animal you wish to sing about. The example here is the dragon. The song encourages the use of drum and cymbal as children celebrate the Chinese new year. The vocals sing of the dragon but any animal may be substituted when you use the backing track. A finished picture is shown and then a picture which is incomplete. The children have to say what is missing and create a completed one. I say that they were photocopied incorrectly and I need their help to make completed pictures. The first one introduces the idea of audience. From then on the pictures depict various scenes from the Nativity and they are treated in a similar vein . Good for discussion and creative impulses.

N.B I have downloaded this resource and had no problem opening the video. You do need PowerPoint 2010 The starting point is a clip showing a recreation of Mayan music . It is deliciously spooky. I have edited the original video (URL in PPT) for a child's attention span.. You will need ordinary class percussion instruments and any kind of recorder etc. You do not need to be able to play it.
