This is a practice on irregular verbs in the preterit. The practice is divided by sections: I, U, and J stem verbs.
Length: 4 pages
For each section students will attach the appropriate endings to the stems for all 6 persons for every verb and answer one personal question per verb. A list of the endings are provided on the top of every page.
Page 1: Section on I stem verbs: hacer, querer, venir (3 personal questions)
Pages 2-3: Section on U stem verbs: estar, andar, poner, saber, poder, tener (6 personal questions)
Page 4: Section on J stem verbs: traer, conducir, decir (3 personal questions)
This practice can be used as students are being introduced to the irregular preterit and can be broken up over a few days if desired.
Present subjunctive spelling change verbs practice car gar zar
Length: 4 pages including answer key for part 1 only.

Part 2: Complete each sentence in an original manner by using a different verb in the present subjunctive from part 1. Do not repeat any verbs. Your sentence must make sense. Add 3-4 words after the present subjunctive verb. (10 total)

Preterit practice: Regular -ar, -er, -ir verbs
For each verb type (-ar, -er, -ir) students will be given 3 infinitives with stems for all 6 persons. They will write the appropriate ending for each stem. Then, they will complete 3 sentences for each verb type using the preterit and adding 4-5 words.
A list of verb endings is provided on the top of every page.
Verbs included:
-AR: hablar, comprar, mirar (page 1)
-ER: comer, aprender, comprender (page 2)
-IR: escribir, vivir, salir (page 3)
This practice can be used as students are introduced to the regular preterit.
Practice: Preterit -car, -gar, -zar spelling change verbs
Length: 3 pages
Part 1: For each verb type (-car, -gar, -zar), make the appropriate spelling change in the yo form. For the other conjugations, write the correct -ar verb endings for the stems.
*Students will conjugate 2 infinitives for each verb type. A list of -ar verb endings as well as the appropriate yo form spelling change is provided. Additional examples of -car, -gar, -zar verbs are provided as well.
Part 2: Complete each sentence in an original manner by conjugating the verb in the preterit and adding 4-5 words. Your sentence must make sense.
*Students will complete 5 sentences per verb type (-car, -gar, -zar) for a total of 15 sentences.
Practice: Spelling change verbs present subjunctive
PART 1: Write the correct spelling change for each verb type (c-qu, g-gu, z-c, c-zc, c-z, g-j, i-y) (9 total)
Students will be given a partially conjugated infinitive and they will write the correct spelling change (ex: c-qu etc) for all 6 persons. Brief notes on other examples of spelling change verbs are also provided after every verb type. For example: students will conjugate tocar and for notes they will see: Other examples: buscar = to look for / explicar = to explain / acercarse = to approach
Part 2: For each spelling change verb, choose a different infinitive from part 1 from other examples and conjugate it for all 6 persons in the present subjunctive. Note: Some infinitives may require a stem change in addition to a spelling change. (9 total)

Reflexive verbs daily routine original paragraph (present tense)
Length: 3 pages
You will write 3 short paragraphs (6 sentences each) about your daily routine (morning, afternoon, and evening) using reflexive and non – reflexive verbs integrated with vocabulary related to body parts and accessories. Use transition words. Write your final paragraphs in the template provided using the list of reflexive / non reflexive verbs, body parts, personal products, and accessories.
A list of reflexive verbs, non reflexive verbs, body parts, personal products and accessories is provided. Students can also use words not on the list. A list of transition words is also provided.
Natural disasters paragraph writing activity
Choose one natural disaster and write a 10-sentence paragraph in the preterit and imperfect tenses. Write 5 sentences in the preterit and 5 in the imperfect. Vary your verbs in both tenses. Use the list of verbs and vocabulary provided as a guide or come up with your own.
Note: Use the preterit to talk about completed actions (what happened), and the imperfect to describe or “set the scene” (what was going on).
Choose one or come up with your own: el huracán / la terremoto / la nevasca (snowstorm) / La inundación

Present subjunctive introduction conversation
Tomás has a group of friends who often ask him for advice for their problems. Respond to each mini conversation by using a different introductory verb from the list below and conjugate in the yo form in the first blank. For the second blank, choose a different verb from the list below, conjugate it in the present subjunctive and add 2-3 words to expand on the response.
There are 10 mini conversations (10 situations total)
Example:

For the present subjunctive verbs, only regular- ar, -er, -ir infinitives are used
This practice can be used as students are first introduced to the present subjunctive. It can also be used as a paired speaking activity where each student gives the other 5 situations and solicits responses.
Original sentences with present subjunctive verbs
Length: 2 pages
This is a worksheet on creating original sentences using introductory verbs and present subjunctive verbs. It can be used when students are first introduced to the present subjunctive. For present subjunctive, students will only use regular -ar, -er, and -ir verbs.
In the template provided, follow these guidelines:
Come up with 2 different subjects (use subject pronouns and names of people).
Conjugate the introductory verb in the present tense and make stem changes where needed.
Conjugate the dependent verb in the present subjunctive.
Use the second template to create original sentences with the present subjunctive.
A template with introductory and subjunctive infinitives is provided.
Students will write a total of 15 sentences in the template provided.
Students can complete this practice individually or in pairs.
Present progressive tense (Spanish)
Length: 3 pages
This worksheet is a practice on the formation of present participles and writing original sentences with them.
Part 1: Write the correct present participle in Spanish for each of the 15 infinitives (5 -ar, 5- er, 5- ir) and 4 irregular (ex: caer, traer etc).
Part 2: Write original sentences with estar + present participle (“ing”) using the guidelines provided.
Write the correct conjugation of estar to match the subject
Add the present participle “ing” form. For present participles, use 3 -ar, 3- er, and 3- ir, and 3 irregular (all from part 1)
Add 3-4 words to expand on the sentence. Your sentence must make sense.
Students will write 12 sentences total (3-ar, 3 -er, 3- ir, 3 irregular present participles) in the template provided.

Los materiales escolares shopping activity (School supplies shopping activity)
Length: 4 pages
Luis needs to buy some school supplies including a new laptop and a new lunch bag. His parents have given him $150.00, and he can’t get any more money. He has $150 of his own savings that he plans to use. Look at the list of supplies that Luis needs to buy. He plans to shop at two office supply stores. Then, fill out the invoice for each store in the template provided. Different items can be bought at both stores. It is acceptable to spend less than $300 and have money left over. Also, Luis will be paying a 4 percent sales tax. One store offers reward members an additional 5 percent discount and the other store gives reward members 2 percent cash back on all purchases.
For each store, a list of items and prices are provided. A template is provided for the invoices.
Students can complete this activity individually or in pairs.
Regular preterit verbs matching and sentence completion
Match the clue words to their English translations.
For each verb type (-ar, -er, -ir) write the correct letter of the conjugation to match the subject. Then, use a clue word (in any order), subject and verb conjugation to logically complete the sentences.
Total: 18 clue words (ayer, anoche etc), 18 matching conjugations (6 -ar, 6-er, 6 -ir) and 18 sentence completions (6 -ar, 6-er, 6 -ir)

Write original sentences in the preterit and imperfect by choosing a clue word (preterit and imperfect) from column A, and a subject / verb conjugation from column B and add 5-6 words to expand on the sentence. You will write 12 sentences in the preterit tense and 8 sentences in the imperfect tense. Use the template on the next page to write your sentences.

Gustar verbs missing element activity (present tense)
Length: 1.5 pages
Complete the template below by adding the missing elements: prepositional phrase, indirect object pronoun, Gustar type verb, noun or infinitive, and additional words to expand on the sentence. Use a Gustar type verb only once (do not repeat any). With nouns, use definite articles (el, la, los, las), indefinite articles (un, una, unos, unas), or possessive adjectives (mi, mis, tu, tus, su, sus, nuestro/a, nuestros/as). Your sentence must make sense.
Students will complete a total of 10 sentences. Notes on 10 different gustar type verbs with English translations, prepositional phrases, and indirect object pronouns are provided for reference.
