I have been Head of RE, Pastoral Lead and Head of PSHE & Citizenship in my 19 year teaching career. I am currently Head of PSHE & Citizenship at a large secondary school 11-18. My shop includes: PSHE and Citizenship sessions, Assemblies, Tutor Time activities SMSC, Fundamental British Values and Religious Education. This is a 15 minute session about the Plymouth attack in August 2021. It sums up what happened and introduces what the term incel means and what they believe. It has a downloaded news clip and discussion activities about gun laws. It also connects with Fundamental British Values and the UN Rights of a Child. There is no written activities, it was originally produced for a Citizenship tutor time session in September with KS3 - KS5 (Ages 11-18 Yrs 7-13). This is suitable for a whole school secondary audience as an introduction to incel culture and the tragic event in Plymouth over the Summer holidays.

This is a 10-20 minute assembly on Storm Arwen and the devastation it has caused throughout the UK. It was originally used for a whole school tutor time Citizenship session at the start of December 2021 to explore the issues it raises. It is suitable for KS3, KS4 & KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13) and includes: A summary of Storm Arwen How it effected people in the UK Discussion questions about electricity cuts, importance of helping the community and whether the UK should be better prepared for extreme weather conditions How this connects to Fundamental British Values and mutual respect How this connects to the UN Rights of a Child Reflection slide about people who are suffering or have died as a result of the storm A downloaded video that will never disappear about the storm on the news Quotes about weather to discuss and reflect upon Links for further study The PowerPoint is narrated but this can easily be changed by deleting the icon on each slide if you would prefer to add your own narration or leave it for teachers to deliver. This could easily be adapted with written tasks to last a whole lesson if required. This fits into the Citizenship, PSHE and FBV Curriculums and can be used as an effective summary. Students reacted very positively to this session.

This is a full lesson on an introduction to Hinduism covering their beliefs in god, festivals, beliefs, symbols, temple, worship etc. It includes a couple of short video clips and some discussion and written questions for students to complete. It has some extension tasks and is suitable for use in the classroom with no photocopying required. It is suitable for KS2, KS3 and KS4 (Ages 11-18) and takes an introductory look at one of the world’s most popular religions.

This is a 10-15 minute assembly about the recent news stories about racism in cricket focusing on the importance of thinking before posting on social media. it is suitable for all year groups from Year 6 - Year 13 (KS2, KS3, KS4, KS5, Ages 10-18) and can be used for an assembly, tutor time session, whole school, PSHE or Citizenship session. It can easily be lengthened by changing the discussion activities to written ones for it to last a whole lesson. There are two short youtube clip which are downloaded so they will never disappear. It is narrated but you can delete this by clicking on the icon and pressing delete. It covers: what the recent news stories are regarding cricket (mentioning Azeem Rafiq & Tim Paine), why we should be wary of what we post on social media or send in messages, how to control your digital footprint, how your future can be affected by your actions on social media as a child or young adult. It also shows the connection with a slide on Fundamental British Values, the UN Rights of a Child and a point of Reflection. There are links to the news and other extension activities looking at quotes which teachers can use or students can have as an extension activity on an online platform or for homework. This was originally designed as a citizenship tutor time session for KS3, KS4 and KS5 for November - December 2021.

This is a 60-90 minute lesson about social action. It is in an RE & Citizenship scheme of work exploring different ways people help the community. It focuses on Christianity and the work of food banks and street pastors. This session can also help towards the AQA Religious Studies A GCSE in the Christian Practices paper but does not have any specific exam focus. It includes: Picture Analysis of a food bank The Parable of the Sheep & Goats Teachings of the Parable of the Sheep & Goats An introduction to street pastors 2 video clips about street pastors (downloaded so they will never disappear) An introduction to food banks 2 videos about food banks (downloaded so they will never disappear) An activity to design their own organisation combining street pastors and food banks True and false quiz for a plenary task Extension tasks with a discussion and extra video links This lesson is fully narrated although this can easily be changed by deleting the icon on each slide if you would prefer it not narrated. This session can easily be lengthened or shortened to last for a shorter or longer amount of time. Students reacted very well to this presentation. There are also lessons on Sewa, Hillsborough and the Birmingham Six in this Social Action unit.

This is a powerpoint that lasts 15 minutes which can be used from KS2 to KS5 to go through the important topic of Fake News with students. It involves no writing, just discussion questions and videos to give the students a snapshot of fake news in tutor time or a short session. Fake news is part of the new Relationships & Sex Education& Health Education curriculum and also includes a plenary quiz at the end. The videos are downloaded and there are no writing tasks. This can be used for a tutor time session, a PSHE or Citizenship lesson or as a whole school assembly.

This lesson was originally a two part lesson forYear 7 students to make a model or 3D picture of the Harimandir Sahib (The Golden Temple of Amritsar). It includes a worksheet about how to be a good team worker as well as full instructions for the task. Students loved creating these models and it taught them teamwork skills and information about the Golden Temple. It is suitable for pupils from KS2-KS4 (Aged 7-16).

This was to inform the students about what was going on in government, teach them about democracy and give room for debate. This could easily be lengthened to an hour’s lesson by holding a more formal debate. This is a 15 minute assembly exploring the role of UNICEF in the world. It has three downloaded videos that will never disappear about their work. There is some more information and discussion activities. It was originally a PSHE tutor time session for Year 8 and does not have any written tasks. It can be used for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13) and forms part of the Keeping Safe in Education Safeguarding guidance, the new RSE & Health Curriculum and the current PSHE and Citizenship criteria. It is a quick snapshot of the work of UNICEF most suitable for an assembly or tutor time but can be lengthened to last a whole lesson and a wider audience. Students reacted very well to this resource and it evoked important discussions.

This is a 60-90 minute narrated lesson about religious views on protest. It includes some downloaded video clips which will never disappear. It includes different religious quotes about protest and has activities based on Martin Niemoller’s poem, ‘Then they came for me’ and the question of whether we should protest for others. It explores how the Golden Rule of all religions can be used for views on protest and goes through how to answer a 12 mark GCSE answer on this topic - "Religious people should always protest about important issues. It includes discussion and written activities and is fully narrated. You can easily delete the icon on each slide if you do not want it narrated or want to change some of the more specific slides for homework etc. This was originally an a lesson for Year 9 in the topic of ‘Protest’ in Religious Education but is suitable for all secondary school pupils (Ages 11-18 KS3, KS4 and KS5).
