This is a PowerPoint covering the different types of Sewa with special emphasis on Langar. It includes logos, discussion tasks, written tasks and has no worksheets. It was originally planned as a 90 minute lesson for Year 7 but can be used for any KS3 or KS4 class and easily adapted for a shorter lesson. There are videos and extension activities for further study.

This is a 15-20 minute assembly or PSHE tutor time session for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13) about social media. It goes through the legal restrictions of different platforms, the advantages and disadvantages of social media and the addiction it can cause. There are discussion activities and videos but no written activities. The three short video clips are downloaded so will never disappear. The presentation will last approximately 15 minutes but can be lengthened or shortened easily to fit a whole lesson. This fits into the new Relationships & Health Education Curriculum, Keeping Children Safe in Education, Mental Health focus, SMSC & FBV agendas. Students reacted very well to this session.

This session involves teaching students what gaslighting is, how we can spot the signs and what support is available to them. It includes definitions, laws, information, adverts, downloaded videos, sources of support, discussion tasks and ends with a plenary quiz. It was originally planned as a 15 minute PSHE tutor time session for Year 9 but is suitable for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Years 7-13, Ages 11-18) and can be used as an assembly or lengthened easily to last a whole lesson. It links to the new RSE and Health Curriculum and can be a pastoral tutor time activity; it does not contain any writing activities.

This is a 15-30 minute tutor time session celebrating deaf awareness week. However, it can also be used for deaf awareness at any time of the year. It is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Years 7-13, Ages 11-18, Grade 6-12). It was originally a Citizenship session for the whole school. It includes: Information about deaf awareness week Information about how many deaf people there are in the UK Information about the devices people use A downloaded and clipped video which will never disappear about what ‘deaf’ means How we can support those in the deaf community What British Sign Language is and why it is important Activity and infographic getting students to sign their own name A connection to Fundamental British Values, UN Rights of a Child and a Reflection task Other links to watch the news There are discussion and activities throughout but this could easily be changed into written tasks to last a whole lesson if required. It includes dual coding and logos throughout. This presentation was well received by all year groups and many have gone on to learn BSL as a result. This is a 15-20 minute assembly on homophobia. It lasts 15-20 minutes and includes discussion questions and a downloaded video that will never disappear. It gives students sources of support and guides them through the legal implications of hate crime, particularly homophobia and transphobia. This was delivered to Year 7 in a tutor time PSHE session but is suitable for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Years 7-13, Ages 11-18, Grades 6-12) and could be used as an assembly instead. There are no written tasks in this PowerPoint. This fits into the new RSE and Health Curriculum and is a useful whole school tutor time session to approach the issue of homophobia in schools.

This is a presentation for KS2 - KS4 (possibly more suited to Years 6-8) which contains definitions, information, advice, NHS tips and a quiz and reflection question as a plenary. It is suitable for a 10-15 minute tutor time session, assembly or PSHE session. It can easily be lengthened for a whole lesson by getting students to create a menu using all of the tips they have been given. It has been used successfully with Year 7 & 8 students and links to the new RSE and Health Education Curriculum.

This is a 10-15 minute session about domestic abuse suitable for PSHE, tutor time, assemblies or as a longer unit on domestic abuse in a PSHE lesson. It includes sources of support, types of abuse, definitions, key information, downloaded videos and has a plenary quiz. This was originally planned for Year 9 during tutor time but can be used throughout KS3 - KS5 (Years 7-13, Ages 11-18). It is linked to the new RSE and Health Curriculum and can also be used to complement the Keeping Safe in Education guidance. This has been received well by students and has taught them how to seek help if needed.

This is a 15 minute session about the Plymouth attack in August 2021. It sums up what happened and introduces what the term incel means and what they believe. It has a downloaded news clip and discussion activities about gun laws. It also connects with Fundamental British Values and the UN Rights of a Child. There is no written activities, it was originally produced for a Citizenship tutor time session in September with KS3 - KS5 (Ages 11-18 Yrs 7-13). This is suitable for a whole school secondary audience as an introduction to incel culture and the tragic event in Plymouth over the Summer holidays.

This is a 15-20 minute assembly that covers the important issue of communication skills. It can be used for whole school, KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13) but was originally a tutor time PSHE session for Year 8. It contains two downloaded video clips that will never disappear and some discussion activities. These could easily be turned into written activities to last a whole lesson on key skills, careers, PSHE or Citizenship. It includes: How to show good communication skills How to improve your communication skills The importance of active listening Body language True & false quiz about good communication Students reacted very positively to this session and it can fit into a whole school tutor time programme.

This is a 10-15 minute assembly or tutor time PSHE or whole school session which is fully narrated and designed for Upper KS2, KS3, KS4 & KS5 (Ages 9-18, Years 5-13). It outlines: What anger is What the symptoms of anger are Strategies to control your anger 2 downloaded video clips that will never disappear giving more coping strategies Things you should not do when you are angry and things you should try to do instead 2 case studies for students to discuss as a class what the two students should do in their situations concerning anger management How to access support for anger management (this is specific to Birmingham, West Midlands but can easily be adapted to anywhere else) There are discussion questions and quotes to aid discussion and these can be turned into written activities if you want to make this session last a whole lesson. There are two downloaded video clips that will never disappear and it is narrated although you can delete this by just deleting the icon on each slide if you would prefer. This session contributes to ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ and the new Relationships & Sexual Education and Health Education. It also highlights Safeguarding, British values and can be used as part of the PSHE curriculum. It can easily be adapted if needed but covers all the necessary guidance. Pupils have responded very well to this presentation in the past and I have updated it for this year.

This is a 90 minute KS4 lesson about the Hillsborough Disaster focusing on the issue of social action. This lesson should be shown alongside the story of Anne Williams and the ITV documentary, Anne Williams: Unfinished Business (not the dramatised four part one). It covers: What happened at Hillsborough The lies that were told The processes of the inquests The details of the event Justice for the 97 court verdict The refusal to buy The Sun newspaper The Hillsborough Law It is fully narrated but the icon on each slide can easily be deleted if you would prefer no narration. There are written or discussion activities which focus on social action and justice including do it now tasks and a review activity. The documentary is downloaded and clipped so you do not have to wait for the adverts and it will never disappear! This is suitable for KS4 and KS5 (Years 10-13, Ages 15-18) as the video does include limited swearing and an image of Kevin Williams on the pitch. This is a 60 minute lesson on religious symbols which goes through each of the major 6 religious symbols for pupils to explore, copy down, colour and learn about. This can be adapted for a longer or a shorter lesson. It contains a true or false quiz, discussion, written and extension activities. It was originally a Year 7 lesson but can be used across the whole of KS2 or KS3 (7-18 years old). It focuses on the campaign of 2021 but can easily be adapted for other years. It was originally a Year 10 tutor time PSHE session but is suitable for a whole school assembly or session for KS3, KS4 & KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). It includes some brilliant tips for students to organise their time when they are not in school. It also includes important definitions and examples of the best study techniques so their time is managed effectively. It contains some discussion activities and a plenary task discussing a variety of quotes about time management. It could easily be lengthened with a timetable planning activity if you needed it to last a whole lesson. This session has two short downloaded video clips that will never disappear. It fits into the mental health, key skills, PSHE and core tutor time programmes across secondary school. Students reacted very positively to this presentation and they said it had helped them with managing their time effectively for revision.

This is a 15 minute session which can be used for tutor time, PSHE, pastoral session or an assembly. This was to inform the students about what was going on in government, teach them about democracy and give room for debate. This could easily be lengthened to an hour’s lesson by holding a more formal debate. This is a 15 minute assembly about bipolar disorder which is suitable for tutor time, PSHE or a short whole school session to explore bipolar disorder. It explains what bipolar is, what the symptoms are and how to get support if needed. There are some video clips (downloaded so they will never disappear) and discussion activities but no written tasks. It is suitable for ages 11-18 (KS3, KS4 & KS5, Years 7-13, Grades 6-12) to give an overview of this mental heath illness for students. It was originally used as a KS3 PSHE session in tutor time and students enjoyed learning about this important issue. It ends with a quick true or false quiz and has a slide of charities/helplines to support them if they need it. Students reacted very well to this session.
