This is a fully resourced lesson about how Martin Luther King’s Christian beliefs influenced his actions. It has an excellent starter sheet, carousel activity, discussion tasks, written tasks and an interactive plenary. It goes through the influence of the Bible, group prayer, being a pastor, non-violent protest & Jesus. It includes information on Civil Rights but its focus is on Martin Luther King’s Christian faith. This pack includes everything you need for this lesson which has been graded Outstanding by Ofsted and included in a Summary report for a secondary school. It has a full lesson plan, differentiated questions, a powerpoint, worksheets and an interactive powerpoint plenary. This plenary can also be adapted and used for other lessons. Buy this and have one lesson for Ofsted totally planned and resourced for you. This lesson is suitable for KS2, KS3 or KS4 (Ages 7-16). It was originally a 60 minute year 8 lesson but can easily last 90 minutes or it can be shortened if needed.

This is a 10-15 minute assembly about the recent news of the death of Archbishop Desmond Tutu. It is suitable for all year groups from Year 6 - Year 13 (KS2, KS3, KS4, KS5, Ages 10-18) and can be used for an assembly, tutor time session, whole school, PSHE or Citizenship session. It can easily be lengthened by changing the discussion activities to written ones for it to last a whole lesson. There is one youtube clip which is downloaded so it will never disappear. It is narrated but you can delete this by clicking on the icon and pressing delete. It covers: The life of Desmond Tutu His influence in the anti-apartheid regime Truth & Reconciliation Committee First black Archbishop of Cape Town The values he had How he will be remembered from various people It also shows the connection with a slide on Fundamental British Values, the UN Rights of a Child and a point of Reflection. This was originally designed as a citizenship tutor time session for KS3, KS4 and KS5 for January 2022.

This is a 20 minute session which can be used as an assembly, a PSHE or Citizenship tutor time session or could be easily shortened and it can easily last 60-90 minutes if required focusing on the conflict between Ukraine and Russia (originally created on 30th January 2022 but fully updated on 25th February 2022). It was originally being used for a Citizenship tutor time News session. This is suitable for KS3 - KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grade 6-13). There are no written activities but plenty of discussion tasks and downloaded video clips that will never disappear. This session covers PSHE, Citizenship, Fundamental British Values, SMSC and Character Education and is suitable for a whole school focus.

This is a 10-15 minute assembly or tutor time PSHE or Safeguarding session which is fully narrated and designed for KS3, KS4 & KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). It outlines: What peer on peer abuse / child to child abuse is Why stopping it is so important How students can access help and support The 9 protected characteristics of the Equality Act How peer on peer / child to child abuse affects someone Signs of a negative relationship Pupil code of conduct How pupils can show positivity at school and form positive relationships Definition of peer pressure and the need to create an equal community There are discussion questions and quotes to aid discussion and these can be turned into written activities if you want to make this session last a whole lesson. This session contributes to ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ and the new Relationships & Sexual Education and Health Education. It also highlights safeguarding, British values and can be used as part of the PSHE curriculum. It can easily be adapted if needed but covers all the necessary guidance. Pupils have responded very well to this presentation in the past and I have updated it for this year.

This is a worksheet that can be used as part of a lesson about how Martin Luther King was inspired by Jesus’ teachings from the Bible. It focuses on 4 key Bible verses and asks pupils to explain how Martin Luther King Jr acted on those Biblical teachings. A simple but effective worksheet to ensure pupils understand the influence of his Christian beliefs on his work. This is suitable for KS2 - KS4 (Ages 7-18).

This is a 15-20 minute assembly about community cohesion. It can be used for a tutor time PSHE session or whole school session for KS3, KS4 & KS5 (Ages 11-18, years 7-13) and tackles the important issue of cohesion amongst the community. It has one slide that is specific to Birmingham but this can be altered or still used outside the city. There are discussion questions and no written activities although these could be easily adapted to last for an entire lesson if needed. It includes: What Community Cohesion is Why it it important Has Community Cohesion improved in the city & in the UK? Plenary thinking task about our responsibility to make our community cohesive. Students reacted very positively to this resource; it was originally a Year 10 tutor time PSHE/Citizenship session and fits into the PSHE, RSHE, FBV, SMSC and Citizenship curriculum.

This is a 10-15 minute assembly about the important issue of anti-social behaviour. It is suitable for a whole school assembly for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13) and was originally used for a tutor time PSHE session for Year 10. It includes discussion activities which could be lengthened and written for a full lesson. The issues it covers are: What anti-social behaviour is & examples What are the consequences of anti-social behaviour Why it is important to report ASB How students can prevent it in the community How dropping litter is an anti-social act It includes two short video clips which are downloaded so will never disappear. The students reacted very positively to this session. It fits into the PSHE curriculum, Relationships and Health Curriculum, Keeping Children Safe in Education or a whole school SMSC and FBV assembly.

This is a 15 minute assembly about veganism. It includes definitions, discussion activities and information about the advantages of a vegan diet on the environment and our lives. It has a downloaded video which will never disappear and ends with a thinking task for pupils. It is suitable for KS4-KS5 (Ages 14-18, Years 10-13) and can be easily lengthened to be suitable for a whole lesson if needed. This fits into the new RSHE curriculum and the PSHE curriculum and was originally a tutor time PSHE session for Year 11.

This is a 15-20 minute assembly on the important issue of hate crime. It can be used for all KS3, KS4 & KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13) year groups as an assembly, a tutor time session or a PSHE whole school lesson. It was originally a tutor time PSHE session for Year 10. This is a 15-30 minute tutor time session celebrating deaf awareness week. However, it can also be used for deaf awareness at any time of the year. It is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Years 7-13, Ages 11-18, Grade 6-12). It was originally a Citizenship session for the whole school. It includes: Information about deaf awareness week Information about how many deaf people there are in the UK Information about the devices people use A downloaded and clipped video which will never disappear about what ‘deaf’ means How we can support those in the deaf community What British Sign Language is and why it is important Activity and infographic getting students to sign their own name A connection to Fundamental British Values, UN Rights of a Child and a Reflection task Other links to watch the news There are discussion and activities throughout but this could easily be changed into written tasks to last a whole lesson if required. It includes dual coding and logos throughout. This presentation was well received by all year groups and many have gone on to learn BSL as a result. This is a 15 minute assembly on Sexism and Gender Inequality. It was originally a tutor time PSHE session for Year 10 but is suitable for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13. It covers what sexism is and whether it is still an issue in the UK. It includes three short downloaded video clips that will never disappear! It covers sexism in the workplace, what feminism is and some statistics about sexism in the UK. It has discussion activities and no written tasks. It could easily be lengthened to a whole lesson with longer debates and written activities. This fits into the new RSHE curriculum, the PSHE curriculum and works towards addressing sexual harassment and inequality in society.

This is a 15 minute PSHE resource, assembly or tutor time session for KS3-KS5. It was originally a Year 9 PSHE tutor time session but is suitable for Years 7-13, Ages 11-18. It covers what the Equality Act, how it is put into action, some examples and two short downloaded video clips so they will never disappear! There is also an interactive quiz at the end as a plenary.

This was originally a PSHE tutor time 15 minute session on Character Education and how to be a have a good character for KS2, KS3 or KS4 (Years 5-13, Ages 9-18). It can be shortened to 10 minutes or lengthened to 25 with discussion activities. There are no written activities in this powerpoint, just discussion tasks, a video that is downloaded so will never disappear and information for students to think about and discuss. This follows the Character Education guidance released by the DfE and the new Relationships & Sex & Health Education Curriculum in 2020. Students responded well to this session.

This was to inform the students about what was going on in government, teach them about democracy and give room for debate. This could easily be lengthened to an hour’s lesson by holding a more formal debate. It is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grades 6-12) and can be used as an assembly or part of the Citizenship, PSHE, FBV, SMSC or tutor time programmes. This is a comprehensive list of hundreds of relevant awareness days for a primary or secondary school. It maps the entire academic year and includes over 400 different dates and days. This is useful for pastoral leaders, PSHE leads, SLT or anyone that is putting together an assembly rota, bulletin, calendar or diary for the academic year starting September 2023. It includes cultural, religious, personal, health and social awareness days and has been triple checked for accuracy. I have pulled together all of the dates so you won’t find a more comprehensive diary anywhere. This will be a document that is updated as more dates are added next year or there are any changes. It brings together all of the useful special days for schools to focus on as part of their PSHE, Citizenship, Fundamental British Values, SMSC, Healthy Schools, Character Education, Finance Education, Religious Education and whole school ethos.
