French Carnival Booklets - Carnaval - Students will have fun learning about this holiday and French culture. Each booklet contains 8 pages: the title page with 7 additional pages containing common Carnival words. Also included are suggestions for using the booklets and an assembly instruction page.
Students first cut, assemble and read the booklet that contains text and illustrations of things associated with Carnival / Carnaval. Each of the 7 pages in the booklet includes the words il y a with a word that corresponds to the illustration on that page. Words included are ballons, costumes, masques, dances, fêtes, chenilles, and défiles. Students then create their own version using the text only template.
The illustration version can be projected in class to present, review and practice pronunciation of the Carnival words. The text only version can be projected onto the Smart Board and students can draw pictures on the Smart Board that correspond to the text.
Each student mingles with a bingo grid and must find different classmates that can reply yes to the questions in each of the 16 boxes. Each box contains a question with a stem change verb that must be conjugated. The type of stem change is included for student reference. A sample question is: ¿Almorzar (o-ue) en la cafetería todos los días? When a student replies yes to a question, the questioning student follows up by asking in Spanish for the student's signature. The goal is to be the first student to fill the entire bingo grid.
Verbs used include:
cerrar, volver, poder, soñar con, querer, empezar, preferir, devolver, reír, pensar, medir, mentir, servir, recordar, competir, and probar.
Also included is a follow up worksheet that requires students to:
1. Write a sentence for each of the 16 boxes in the grid. The student includes the name of the student that signed the box and must change the verb to the third person.
2. Provide the English meaning of each verb.
3. Write an appropriate Spanish stem change infinitive under 6 images at the bottom of the paper.
This is a great back to school speaking review activity for students with prior Spanish experience.
Students assemble a 4 x 4 French/English vocabulary puzzle with 24 common clothing words and accessories. Most of the words are accessories, and several words are repeated which makes the puzzle more challenging. Sample words are gants, chapeau, parapluie, anneau, mitaines, lunettes, mouchoir, montre, bijoux, and cravate. Just photocopy enough for a class set (1 for every 2 students if working in pairs, or 1 per student if working alone), cut and fasten with a paper clip. Distribute to students and challenge them to reassemble the puzzles as quickly as possible. There is a list of all words alongside the puzzle in French and English. This can be used as a clothing/accessories bookmark and reference.

2 Spanish Body Parts Que Te Duele - Me Duele Booklets Students first cut, assemble and read the booklet that contains text and illustrations of several different body parts in pain such as earache, headache, broken arm, broken leg, stomachache, etc. They then create their own version using the text only template. The title page asks Que te duele and each subsequent page responds with Me duele plus a body part. Each booklet contains 12 pages: the title page with 11 additional pages. This item also includes suggestions for using the booklets and an assembly instruction page. The illustration version can be projected in class to present, review and practice pronunciation of the body parts vocabulary words. Spanish Future Tense Verbs - Chores Around the House - Students practice the future tense with verbs and vocabulary related to chores around the house. Sample verbs are limpiar el cuarto, barrer el piso, lavar los platos, quitar el polvo, hacer la cama and planchar la ropa. Included in this item are: 1. 10 English do Spanish sentence translations 2. 10 infinitive verb translations 3. 7 clip art image infinitive verb IDs 4. A complete conjugation of the verb comer in the future tense 5. Vocabulary box with adverbs of time such as "this afternoon", "today" and "tonight". 6. Vocabulary list of 10 chores infinitive verbs

This activity provides student practice with ser, descriptive adjectives, and llamarse. Each student interviews a classmate asking for the name and description of people such as his/her mother, father, favorite actor, Spanish teacher, pet, favorite grandma, etc. The interviewers record the responses and then rewrite the information in the 3rd person. A sample question/answer is: Question - Como se llama y como es tu actor favorito? Notes - George Clooney. Guapo, talentoso e inteligente. 3rd person sentences - El actor favorito de Luisa se llama George Clooney. El es guapo, talentoso e inteligente. This can be done in or outside of class and is a good substitute teacher lesson and activity. Student answers will vary, but a sample answer key is included that can be used to prep students for the activity.
Spanish Adjectives 4 x 4 Matching Squares Puzzle - Los Adjetivos - Students assemble a 4 x 4 Spanish/English vocabulary puzzle with 30 common adjectives used to describe people in terms of personality and appearance. Students must: 1. Respond in complete sentences to 11 questions about weather and preferred activities during different seasons and under different weather conditions. 2. Write a Spanish weather word under each of the 12 clip art images shown. Each question begins with "¿Qué te gusta hacer cuando...? / ¿Qué no te gusta hacer cuando...?" plus a season and/or weather condition. A sample question is: ¿Qué te gusta hacer en enero cuando nieva? Answers will vary, but there is a sample response key that can be used as an in class reading activity, or to prep students for the assignment.

Spanish Street Scene by Fernando Botero 7 Sentences - Combine hispanic culture with Spanish grammar, clothing, and vocabulary for different people words! This activity includes 7 sentences with at least 2 underlined words that must be corrected based on Botero's Street painting. A sample sentence is: Las personas en la pintura corren en la playa. Students make corrections and then provide the English meaning for each sentence. Botero's unique style is sure to make him a favorite with your students!
