Four sets of activity sheets for numbers 1-20. These are great for differentiating the learning in your classroom. The font used is ‘NZ Basic Script’. The number shapes are the same as those recommended in the NZ Ministry of Education Handbook – ‘Teaching Handwriting’. SET A (1-20): ♦ Colour the number ♦ Draw a circle around the correct number of stars and colour ♦ Trace the numbers ♦ Write the numbers ♦ You choose – eg. draw 10 balls, write facts (eg 8+2=10), write 10 ten times. SET B (1-10): The same as Set A except there are 2 hand prints in the ‘you choose’ section. Students colour the number of fingers. Activity sheets for numbers 1-10 only. SET C (1-20): ♦ Colour the number ♦ Draw a circle around the correct number of stars and colour ♦ Trace the numbers ♦ Write the numbers ♦ Show the number on the tens frame by colouring the circles ♦ Write the missing numbers on the number line ♦ You choose – eg. draw 10 balls, write facts (eg 8+2=10), write 10 ten times. Children love mystery and being a detective! Your students will have so much fun making and using these secret code wheels during the Christmas season. This template has the alphabet on the outer wheel and symbols on the inner wheel. See below for other options. Instructions: 1. Colour the picture on the inner wheel. 2. Cut both of the wheels out. 3. Join the wheels together by using a split pin (otherwise known as a brad pin). 4. Use your code wheel to find out the answers to the jokes that are written in code. 5. Parabolic Curves – draw a series of straight intersecting lines between dots on the template and watch curves magically appear! Celebrate the Māori New Year with this fun craft activity. There are 6 different templates for you and your students to select from. Each template has the heading ‘Ngā mihi o te Tau Hou’ (Happy New Year) and a decorative panel at the base. Students add their own creative touch to the middle section. There is also one template that just has the heading (no decorative panel at the base). Use the handle template, or just cut strips of paper to cut down on photocopying. Designed on A4 size paper. Activity mats for students working on their sight words from the Magenta to Orange level of the NZ reading colour wheel. Print and laminate the mats. Students make the words using alphabet letters (eg magnetic letters, scrabble tiles, letters written on milk bottle lids, letters written on pieces of card …) The type of activity that your ‘hands-on learners’ will appreciate. Great for a learning station, early finisher activity, etc. This activity will reinforce reading and spelling. The font used is ‘NZ Basic Script’. A total of 40 activity sheets for words at the Magenta, Red, Yellow and Blue levels of the NZ colour wheel. These activity sheets focus on reading and matching sight words that are written in different fonts. The fonts get more difficult to read as the levels progress. ♦ Magenta - all words are written in the NZ basic script font. ♦ Red - 8 different fonts that are easy to read. ♦ Yellow 8 different fonts that are slightly decorative. ♦ Blue 8 different fonts that are decorative. Activity sheets for 100 high frequency Māori sight words. 8 activities on each sheet: ♦ Read it ♦ Colour it ♦ Trace it ♦ Write it ♦ Clap it (How many syllables?) ♦ Spell it (write it in the ‘letter boxes’) ♦ Connect it (draw a line to connect the letters) ♦ Find it (find the word 4 times) There is also space on the top of each sheet for your students to write their name. The font used in the ‘Find it’ section is Comic Sans. Made on A4 size paper. Words used: High frequency word list found online on the tki website. ‘1000 frequent words of Māori – in frequency order’. The words I have used are from te to kāre (excluding whanaunga and whakaaturanga as these words were too long to fit on the template). The word ‘Māori’ has 2 activity sheets – with and without a capital letter. This resource has been created to support Māori medium education in Aotearoa. A great activity that supports oral language development. Toss a coin and then roll a dice to find a topic to talk about. Talk to a buddy, small group or whole class. Can you talk continuously for 30 seconds without pausing or saying ummm, ahhhh, etc? 6 charts with 12 topics on each card (72 topics altogether) 1 chart with 12 topics that are broader (suitable for less able students). Fun, engaging topics that your students will enjoy. Provided in colour and in black and white. A blank template is also provided so you and your students can make up your own game. Also provided is the list of topics that you can print, cut up and put in a container. Students can then pull a topic out from the container (as an alternative to tossing a coin and rolling a dice).
