Read the CVC words.
Cut out the ‘e’ and sad faces cards and place them face down on the table. Take turns to turn over a card. If you pick an ‘e’ put it next to one of the cvc words, read the new word and score a point. if you pick a sad face, it is the other player’s turn. Read your new list of words using the magic e.

Year 2 spelling game (Kim's game)
Powerpoint containing 4 words per slide of the Year 2 spellings. Pupils look at the words on the whiteboard for 5 seconds. Pupils put their head down on the desk and teacher removes a word. Pupils write down the missing word and then check everyone has the correct word and spelling.
China - SEN Medium Term Plan
Medium term planning on the topic of China - includes Art, PSHE, Maths, Literacy, Science, Humanities. There is also a simple sentences powerpoint (colour coded like colourful semantics) for pupils to build sentences in Literacy.
ESL beginner/SEN memory sequencing days of the week sequencing with food items
Simple powerpoint of the days of the week with a food item to accompany it.
Use on the whiteboard or print out onto card and cut along the middle so that students can order the days of the week and they see if they can remember the food item the teacher had on that day, i.e. on Monday, I.she/he had a cup of tea.
Very simple but useful for beginner ESL to learn days of the week and basic food/drink or a memory/sequencing game for SEN.
CVC drawing game
Pupils learn to read cvc words by drawing what they see. One person is asked to choose a cvc word and show it to the class without looking at it themself. This person then covers their eyes and the pupils have one minute to draw the word that they read on the card on their whiteboards. After one minute, hold up the whiteboards and the chosen pupil has to guess what the cvc word was by looking at the pictures his classmates have drawn. Teacher can check all pupils have read the cvc word correctly by looking at their matching picture on the whiteboard. (Sorry about my pictures - I tried to draw them how I thought children would !)

ESL Clothes Speaking and listening SEN
A4 clothes flashcards , can be coloured in, hung on washing line, put on floor to match to clothing items.
Key words to buikd sentences: colour the key words and then use to build sentences, i.e this is a t shirt, these are trousers. Ordinal numbers to order clothes. Big, medium and small clothes to sort according to size, measure with cubes or a ruler.
ESL SEN colours months of the year
Key words - in, it, is, we, have, get, I, can, see.
Simple powerpoint to print out or use on screen. Months of the year to order and colour the object in the picture according to simple instruction.
Use the key words to read an write sentences, i.e. In January, we have snow. In February, I can see…it is…etc.
Their, they're and there - SEN and ESL
Their, they’re and there cards with sentences on cards. The first set are colour coded so that they can sorted easily under the correct thier/they’re/there. You can the look at how the cards have been arranged and talk about why. they can copy the sentences in their book. When they become familiar with their usage, they can progress to using the black sheet which are not coloured for matching to see if they can complete without the coloured prompts.
ESL SEN Likes/Dislikes Speaking and listening HFW's
Key words- I ,you ,like, do, not, what, yes, no.
Learn the key words. Cut up and make sentences - I like…I do not like…what do you like? Do you like…? Yes/no.
Cut out the pictures and put them into the boxes for ‘I like…’ I do not like…’.
Homophones - SEN or ESL Complete the sentences with pictures.
Complete the sentences using the correct homophone with pictures added to support the pupil in learning the differences between the two spellings. Useful for SEN pupils who need visuals to support or for ESL who may benefit from seeing the pictures to help them to complete the sentences. Matching words activity also included.
