Ideal for a cover lesson, homework or a creative writing lesson, this is a four task autobiography creative writing challenge. Students have four writing activities to complete about their lives: a newspaper article, a television series, a letter and a blog.

A full lesson based on Stave 2 of A Christmas Carol and the extract running from ‘They left the high-road, by a well-remembered lane…’ to ‘The Ghost smiled thoughtfully, and waved its hand: saying as it did so, “Let us see another Christmas!”’ The learning objective focuses on adding context to a student response. There is a do now quiz based on the text and an example paragraph analysing the text in response to this exam question: Starting with this extract, how does Dickens present loneliness and isolation in ‘A Christmas Carol’? The lesson follows the ‘I do/We do/You do’ structure. There is an exemplar paragraph analysing this section of the text, with a clear contextual comment. There is an extra activity at the end based on a spelling test of key words in the text. This lesson has been successfully used in GCSE English literature lessons for a number of years.
