Medicine Through Time Christmas Quiz
A quiz I use with my GCSE lot on their last lesson before Christmas. Round one is an ‘identify the era’ round; then order the events; quick fire questions. There are then 3 more fun rounds, on logos, guess the celeb baby and a christmas song round.
This can be very easily amended to other topics and for other year groups!
There is also an answer sheet make it as easy as possible for teachers and the answers are on the slides.
GCSE Medicine Through Time Western Front Question Bank Edexcel
A bank of questions for GCSE History Medicine Through Time Western Front topic for Edexcel exam board.
There are over 20 exemplar questions made up of past paper and teacher made questions, with sources and attached. There are example of each question (Q1, Q2A & Q2B)
Can be used to make assessment/mock papers or given to students for revision.
These cover a variety of topics, including battles, chain of evacuation, problems with treating soldiers in WWI and advancements in medicine on the Western Front.
The murder of Emmett Till
An investigative lesson on the murder of Emmett Till and how his death inspired others in the Civil Rights movement. There is a source activity for students to work out what happened in 1955. The slides then go through the murder and aftermath, including the trial and public reaction. The lesson ends on how Till’s death inspired Rosa Parks. There is the option to get students to write a newspaper article surrounding Till. Lesson plan included. My students have always enjoyed this lesson!
How successful was the Montgomery Bus Boycott?
A lesson on the arrest of Rosa Parks and the bus boycott that followed; concluding with whether the boycott should be considered a success or not. The lesson also covers Claudette Colvin who was also arrested for refusing to leave her seat and a discussion on why she wasn’t as famous as Rosa Parks for doing so.
Bletchley Park Open Day activity
Resources for an open day or WWII activity. Includes a powerpoint (Which I play on loop) and a code, plus premade codes to crack. Went down very well at our open day the last 2 years!
The 1066 Succession Crisis
A KS3 lesson on the succession crisis and contenders to the throne in 1066. A tweet activity, profiles on each contender and top trumps to complete to help students decide who should have been given the throne in 1066. My Y7s love it! Goes down every year

These cover the whole period from early Weimar Problems, through Stresseman’s Golden Years, the growth of the Nazi Party, Hitler becoming Chancellor and then Hitler’s methods of control, oppression and opposition against him.
GCSE Social Change in Weimar Germany - Women
A GCSE resource used for an observation lesson by the head (very good feedback!) on how far the lives of women changes in Weimar Germany during the Stressemann/Golden Years. With primary sources, historiography and challenge activities.

A lesson on the segregation of American based on race under the ‘Jim Crow’ laws. I use the lesson as an introduction to a scheme of work on the Civil Rights movement. The lesson contains a case study of Brown V The Board of Education to exemplify how the African American community challenged the laws on segregation.

A lesson on pride from a historical perspective; considering why the Pride Movement emerged and what movements and organisations were doing and asking for. Also covers responses to their actions and the issues around Aids.
Why didn't Legal Equality make Women Equal?
A lesson considering why legislation alone did not make women equal. It looks at the issues facing women in the 20th century onwards and covers case study movements to improve attitudes towards women, to fix some of the problems and to get closet to equality.
Why were there different attitudes in the fight for Civil Rights?
A lesson covering the different attitudes to achieving Civil Rights in America. This includes the growth, popularity and tactics of Martin Luther King Jr, as well as the more radical Black Power movement.
The Greensboro Sit-In
A lesson on the Greensboro sit-in, covering the causes, the events and the consequences of the protest. As well as putting its significance into the wider context of the Civil Rights movement.

Modern Medicine and the Discovery of Penicillin
Lesson on the discovery and development of Penicillin. Covering the actions of Fleming, Florey and Chain. There are videos to and plenty of text on the slides to help students make a judgement on which individual was most important and which other factors were at play in the discovery.
