ABC Private School, Abu Dhabi is a popular and over-subscribed ENC School. We are recruiting Secondary teachers to supplement our existing Secondary team for the coming academic year due to an unprecedented number of admissions.

On average each year group in our Secondary section will have seven classes in 2024/25 as we expand our provision to cater for up to 2500 FS1 to Y13 students representing more than 16 nationalities next year.

ABC moved to the current site in Al Shamkha, Abu Dhabi in 2016. The owners are committed to an ongoing programme of investment and school improvement with the aim of achieving BSO accreditation in the coming twelve months which will enable us to offer ECT Statutory Induction in future years. The school boasts excellent facilities and is well resourced.

The Principal, Mrs. Allison McDonald recently joined ABC from Al Basma British School where she moved the school from satisfactory to very good with many outstanding features during her nine year tenure. An established Principal within the UAE she prides herself on her holistic approach to education aiming to cultivate each student's talents, ignite their curiosity and foster their love for learning. Mrs. Allison wholeheartedly endorses ABC's commitment to prioritising inclusivity and providing a nurturing and supportive atmosphere which empowers students to explore, innovate and flourish.

ABC follows the 2014 National Curriculum of England and the updated 2020 Development Matters Framework in EYFS. The school uses both GL CAT4 and GL Progress tests for Year 4 to 10. In addition, the school offers a range of GCSE, iGCSE, iAS and iA Levels from Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel exam boards for their older students. We plan to introduce a range of BTEC qualifications to better personalise pathways for our students from September 2024.

Most recently, in February 2022, the school was graded good in the ADEK inspection.

Please note your documents must be attested for the UAE prior to arrival. You must be able to provide references from your two most recent employers on request and, if successful, you must be able to submit a police clearance certificate from your most recent country of residence that is no more than 3 months old (ACRO or DBS from the UK) .

We welcome applications from candidates with one the following sets of qualifications:

• An internationally recognised Bachelor’s Degree in Y7 to 13 English Education with English Literature or English Language specialism and QTS or equivalent.

or

• An Internationally recognised Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature or English Language or a closely related subject and an internationally recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE or PGDE in English Literature or English Language and QTS or equivalent.

or

• An internationally recognised Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with an internationally recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE or PGDE in English Literature or English Language with QTS or equivalent and one year of experience teaching English Literature or English Language.
