Job overview

Leighton Park is a multi-award winning, values-led, independent day and boarding school in Berkshire, for girls and boys aged 11-18. With a unique culture and ethos, based on a strong Quaker foundation, the School has a clear mission to challenge its students to imagine a better world and become ethical changemakers. Matthew Judd will move in September 2025 to a new role after 7 very successful years in post.

The School was honoured to win the ISA Senior School of the Year Award in 2023 and Governors are looking for an ambitious and dynamic new leader to take the helm, work collaboratively with them and lead Leighton Park on its continued upwards trajectory.

The new Head will need to be warm, engaging and inclusive, strategically creative and flexible, forward-thinking and innovative, financially confident, and skilled in the art of change management but also a comfortable and natural team player. Although it is not a prerequisite for the Head to be of the Quaker faith, they will need to share and personify the School’s Leighton Park’s distinctive Quaker values of simplicity, truth, respect, integrity, peace, equality and sustainability.

If this is a role that excites you, and you believe you have the requisite skills and experience, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Interested candidates are invited to contact RSAcademics by email to arrange an initial confidential discussion with Charlotte Faber or Michael Stephens, who are leading the search.

Further information about the role and details of how to apply can be found at www.rsacademics.com

Closing date: Thursday, 8th August 2024 at 10:00am (UK time).

Leighton Park School is a successful, forward looking independent (HMC) day and boarding school for approximately 500 pupils aged 11-18 set in 65 acres of magnificent parkland.

Leighton Park exists to form young people of real character and confidence, with a determined desire to change the world, reflecting the school’s Quaker values. In March 2021 we won the ISA Award for Outstanding Local Community Outreach for the involvement of our students, staff and parents in projects helping those less fortunate and putting our Quaker values into practice.

We are a school that inspires Achievement with Values, Character and Community and academic excellence is the consequence of our approach. Valuing breadth and depth, we are distinguished by excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM), Music and Ethical Enterprise. The UK Government’s latest 16-18 league tables reveal Leighton Park to be the best performing School in Berkshire and in the top 1% of English schools. We are one of only eight schools to have always appeared in the top 100.
