Woodford Church of England Primary School is a growing primary school with over 110 pupils from aged 2-11. There is a purposeful, calm atmosphere in the school where children have fun but are expected to work hard and learn new skills. The children are incredibly well behaved and are supported by a hard-working team of teachers, assistant teachers and other members of the support team. The staff share a responsibility for making learning life at school exciting, fun and enjoyable but also for raising standards. The Role

Woodford C of E Primary School are looking to recruit a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join the team. You need to be patient, hard-working and have high expectations for yourself and pupils. The post holder’s prime duties will be assisting the teacher with day-to-day work and helping to deliver learning programmes for individuals and small groups. A commitment to the life of the school is vital! School tours are encouraged.

Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship - Level 3

The apprenticeship programme offers a flexible approach to learning whereby all learners will gain the fundamental knowledge and develop the skills required to support teachers to enhance pupil learning either in groups or individually, ensuring pupils understand the work set, know their learning objectives and stay on task in order to make progress.

You will learn how to promote self-belief, social inclusion and a high self-esteem. Learning gained will include a greater knowledge and understanding of whole class teaching that will support potential progression to Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) status. Learners will also be able to personalise their pathways based on their choice of specialist area(s).

Key Tasks:

  • To support teachers and pupils in the delivery of quality teaching and learning.
  • Provide for the social, emotional and personal development of a pupil with additional need
  • Promote the involvement of pupils in the social and academic processes of the school
  • Enable pupils to become more independent learners
  • Help raise standards of achievement for pupils

Children feel confident and secure in their surroundings and the staff know all the children as individuals. Children trust that staff will help them deal with any worries they might have, with one Year 6 child summarising it perfectly when they told inspectors, ‘I feel safe because everyone will help here. Everyone cares for each other at Woodford.’

Our most recent SIAMS Inspection in November 2019 felt there was a 'Distinctive Christian vision established and promoted', as a result 'RE is enjoyed by children', enabling our children to 'Reflect on the school values' meaning Woodford Church of England Primary School is a good school.
