This could also be used as unseen practice with higher Yr 11 students.<br /> The students are encouraged to apply their analytical skills to decode the poems as well as to practise their research skills to find out more about Heaney’s life and writing.</p>

The poems have been linked by theme - Love - and covers a selection of these poems including - Harvest Bow, Polder and In memoriam Francis Ledwidge.<br /> <br /> Each poem is broken down into sections and supported by context, questions and critical views of the poems. The students are supported but also stretched to build their own literary analysis skills through their own research and understanding.

This resource has been designed to provide one lesson a week of spelling revision and instruction for Yr 7 and 8. However, the resource could be used with KS4 as revision or starter sessions. The scheme helps build vocabulary skills as well as spelling skills. This is to help the students prepare for the KS4 exams.<br /> The main lessons are meant to accompany weekly homework of learning and testing key words as well as a weekly AFL session on the students' class books. The lessons run in order but could be changed to suit particular weaknesses in a group.<br /> I have also included various worksheets which can be used alongside the main PowerPoint. These have been designed to fit in a typical class book.

<p>This is a scheme designed for KS4 and Yr 9. It is a chance for them to expand their knowledge of a relevant topic as well as develop their AQA English Language skills. The final task will be for the class to draft, edit and improve upon a letter to the head teacher regarding guns in the classroom.<br /> This is suitable for any exam board but tailored to the AQA spec. It is an issue that engages all students of every ability and can easily be differentiated up or down depending on class. The scheme is designed to last for one week (5 lessons) but can be stretched further if needs be.<br /> There are opportunities for green pen activities as well as further research and debate on this topical issue.</p>

This is a resource which I have developed for Yr 9 as an introduction to 19th century text study at GCSE. The unit covers the context of Victorian society as well as the Industrial revolution and class. There are assessment opportunities for both reading and writing skills as part of the lessons and differentiation is integrated into the tasks.<br /> The scheme covers only part 1 of the novel but gives a detailed introduction to author technique, developing key reading skills as well as plot and character.<br /> The page numbers refer to the Wordsworth Classic edition of the novel.
