<p>This is a whole unit of lessons to teach the Religious Language: Negative, Analogy and Symbol unit of the OCR Religious Studies A-level. It would likely be appropriate for other exam boards also.</p> <p>This resources includes lesson powerpoints for the whole unit (both a student and a teacher version), an accompanying student booklet which follows the powerpoint exactly, as well as a summary table and information sheet on Tillich and the use of symbol. It is all ready to teach and supports independent, student-led learning.</p> <p>This covers all the points on the OCR specification with a focus on the apophatic way, the cataphatic way and symbol. The three key approaches are explored through many scholars, including but not limited to Maimonides, Pseudo-Dionysius, Aquinas and Tillich. <p>This is a brilliant and complete unit of work for teaching the arguments from observation section of A-level (AS) Religious Studies, with focus on Aquinas’ five ways (both the cosmological argument and the design/teleological argument), Paley’s watch, Hume’s criticisms and the challenges of evil and evolution. It also includes wider knowledge such as the Kalam cosmological argument, Leibniz’s principle of sufficient reason, the Copleston v Russell debate and Tennant’s aesthetic and anthropic principles.<br /> The unit of work has been made in line with the OCR Religious Studies A-level specification, though could also be applicable to other A-level boards, such as AQA and Edexcel.<br /> There are a range of worksheets, activities and lesson powerpoints to keep students engaged and enthused. <p>A complete student workbook for the death and afterlife unit of the OCR A-level Religious Studies syllabus, Development of Christian Thought unit. It can also be applicable for other exam boards, such as Edexcel and AQA.<br /> The workbook is 17 pages covering beliefs in heaven, hell and purgatory; whether these are spiritual, symbolic or physical places; different beliefs about election (including limited, unlimited and universalism); the importance of Jesus’ resurrection and the teachings of St. Paul; the key questions of the unit - e.g. whether the afterlife is eternal, if purgatory is a state everyone goes through and whether heaven is the perfection and transformation of the whole of creation. This includes a great range of Biblical scripture and parables, and key scholars, e.g. Calvin, Augustine, HIck and Barth - to name a few<br /> There a range of different activities and key questions for discussion.
