Helpful sheet which will support when teaching the topic of ‘time’ in Spanish - particularly to support lower sets who may not know how to tell the time on an analogue clock in English.

This is and updated and adapted version of my big Spanish quiz. It was created in 2024, but should stand the test of time!

There are 5 rounds:

Name that place

Name the French-speaker

Shopping

Test my French

French Culture

This should take around an hour to complete and mark in teams

Introducing my comprehensive booklet designed to help you excel in the AQA GCSE Spanish exam. This resource features 40 carefully curated questions covering all three themes of the specification, tailored specifically for the conversation component of the speaking exam. Additionally, these questions will be useful when writing written responses.

Each question comes with three essential grammar or vocabulary prompts, ensuring that answers range from 40 to 60 words and incorporate:

A variety of tenses
Well-formed opinions with justifications
High-level phrases

Using this booklet will enhance your students’ ability to deliver well-rounded and sophisticated responses, setting them on the path to success in the exams.

This worksheet comprises three activities - a wordsearch, a colouring activity with instructions in Spanish and a code-breaker. The code breaker reveals key vocabulary, but be careful - you have not been given every letter of the alphabet!

Here I have compiled a booklet of sample paragraphs for Theme 3, AQA Spanish. I have written the paragraphs in both Spanish and English with a space underneath each for students to write their own version. I have made bold any vobabulary that was used from the vocabulary list within the Kerboodle textbook and I have also underlined any words or phrases in both languages which would be good to add to their own version.

I also have a Theme 1 booklet, which will be uploaded soon and then I will create a Theme 2 booklet later on.

This booklet will guide students towards creating a festival in a Spanish-speaking country. There is a variety of research activities which will support in their planning.

A game where you have six seconds to name what is on the board (EG “Three nouns beginning with M”) in order to score a point. Can be used with French and Spanish classes. The game is very similar to the “5-second rule” game you can buy in shops.

Introduction to the Preterit tense through poetry. The aim is to be able to write a poem using the Preterit tense based on the structure of the French poem Déjeuner du Matin (translated to Spanish) by Jacques Prévert. The PowerPoint covers:

Regular AR/ER/IR verb conjugation.

Reflexive Pronouns and Preterit conjugation.

Irregular verbs mentioned in the poem.

Some of the tasks include:

Translation

Mini whiteboard work

Beat the Mouse game

Twisted Translation

A link to a ‘cortometraje’ of the poem

Match-up tasks.

The slide does not go into how to write the poem - this is to be done afterwards. It would be useful to complete this PowerPoint before writing about holidays - especially if you want students to use the third person in the Preterit tense.

This may come in handy if you are creating papers or assessments for the 2021 cohort and is based on the 2019 AQA Spanish grade boundaries. You can enter any maximum mark you want so you do not have to stick to the usual paper marks. The overall grade is made up of a Listening and Reading mark plus a Writing mark which is doubled to account for the Speaking mark.
