Introduction to the Preterit tense through poetry. The aim is to be able to write a poem using the Preterit tense based on the structure of the French poem Déjeuner du Matin (translated to Spanish) by Jacques Prévert. The PowerPoint covers:
- Regular AR/ER/IR verb conjugation.
- Reflexive Pronouns and Preterit conjugation.
- Irregular verbs mentioned in the poem.
Some of the tasks include:
- Translation
- Mini whiteboard work
- Beat the Mouse game
- Twisted Translation
- A link to a ‘cortometraje’ of the poem
- Match-up tasks.
The slide does not go into how to write the poem - this is to be done afterwards. It would be useful to complete this PowerPoint before writing about holidays - especially if you want students to use the third person in the Preterit tense.
