<p>I shared this class once a week with another teacher and needed a worksheet that used bar modelling as this is how she taught them to do fractions (which I think is amazing). I found the pupils started to develop a good understanding of what they were doing when they were adding and subtracting fractions when they could see the parts being broken up. I used it with a low/mid-ability class. The worksheet is scaffolded with a few for them to try without boxes at the end.</p>

I have used this method to introduce my students to what I call the reverse box method of factorising. <p>This lesson guides students through how to factorise trinomials using algebra tiles to develop their conceptual understanding.
