This activity is designed to help students learn and revise idiomatic expressions and strengthen their reading comprehension.

There are 80 idioms in total, increasing in difficulty, split into 5 different sets:

Set I – 12 idioms related to colours – ideal for KS3/GCSE
Set II – 20 idioms related to animals – ideal for KS3/GCSE
Set III – 20 idioms related to body parts and verbs DAR/QUEDAR – ideal for GCSE/A-level
Set IV – 12 idioms related to objects and food – ideal for KS3/GCSE
Set V – 16 idioms – ideal for GCSE/A-level

Each page includes 4 items (80 idioms in total) that need to be cut out. Each mini-jigsaw includes 3 pieces, the longest being placed at the top.

Cards can be distributed as one big pack or teachers can choose to give only 1 page at a time, with 4 items each. It can also work by issuing a different page to each group of students, and as a class, students can rotate from table to table to see the final answers.
