Year 5 or Year 6 Ancient Egypt Mega Bundle of Activities

This bundle contains five reading comprehension activities about Ancient Egypt and influential people from the era; a timeline display or sorting activity; two biography writing units about both Cleopatra and Tutankhamun; a discussion based writing activity about who was the greatest leader from the time; and an informational text writing unit about Ancient Egypt.

22 Lessons, or 22 hours of activities, with NO PREP needed!

Firstly, there are five reading comprehension activities, or informational texts, about:

• An Overview of Ancient Egypt
• Cleopatra
• Tutankhamun
• Thutmose III
• Ramesses II

These activities require NO PREP and have a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. All texts then have an extension activity for those fast finishers. Answers, for teacher use, are on the final page of each document.

Then, there is a great classroom display and sorting activity that is perfect for introducing students to some of the key events of Ancient Egypt. There are 30 posters or task cards that include many of the key events and periods from the period. The posters look great as a display in the classroom and the cards are a brilliant introduction to Ancient Egypt. The displays and cards come both with dates and without dates, so the students can research the dates online before sorting the timeline. The cards look even better when laminated.

Secondly, there are two biography writing units about Cleopatra and Tutankhamun. The units have been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

Then, there is an informational text writing unit about Ancient Egypt. The unit focuses on key facts about the history of the ancient civilization that dated from 3100 BC until the Roman invasion of Cleopatra’s forces in 30 BC. The unit has been split into three separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.

Finally, there is a discussion based writing unit discussing who was the greatest leader from Ancient Egypt. The unit has been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each.
