This is the first lesson in a sequence of lessons on Apartheid. It is aimed at S3/Year 9. This lesson looks at the historical origins of Apartheid and encourages students to think about how past events can impact the development of history. Students create a timeline of these events, examine the concept of nationalism, and will then complete a carousel task looking at four key events and their impact on the growth of Boer/Afrikaner nationalism. Students are then asked to consider how this might have then led to the policy of apartheid.
