This is an ICT lab based lesson where pupils find information about a chosen element and put this information in the net of a cube in a Word document. One piece of information per side of cube e.g. symbol, state at room temp, uses. There are several links to online periodic tables.

We're using this idea for a whole-year science competition. Unfortunately so far my only entry was brought glued together inside out, but the idea is great. I've seen a teacher use a cube-net idea (not elements but something else) for a class who were quite bored of looking at textbooks before, and they didn't even realise they were looking at books to gather information. Plus I'm looking forward to some decoration for my room when they're handed in!
