This bundle of lessons surrounds the Foundation Stories section of the GCSE Specification and would last 2-3 lessons.
First, it looks at the one possibility of the foundation of Athens - the competition between Poseidon and Athena. Then, we look at the Myth of Theseus. I have included the Kylix as indicated by the OCR text books and a corresponding set of exam-style questions. The tasks involve pupils considering the tasks of Theseus and analysing the Kylix for the presentation of the myth upon it. (You will need to accompany thins set of lessons with the textbook's written coverage of the tasks of Theseus.) Finally, there is a task which encourages pupils to compare Heracles and Theseus - who is the greatest Hero and why?
