Ser: Basic reading practice (present tense)

This is a very basic reading practice with ser ideally for Spanish 1 students. It can also be used earlier in the school year for Spanish 2 students.

Read about Carlos’ description of himself with the verb ser. Then, answer each question in a complete sentence in the present tense using ser and the appropriate details required.

There are 14 questions total. All questions are with ser in the 3rd person singular (es).

The reading is structured with questions that follow a sentence or sentences that students read. (See example below)

Example:

Yo soy Carlos.

Yo soy bajo, moreno, y cómico

1 .¿Cómo es Carlos? (Give 3 adjectives) _____________________________

Yo soy de México.

  1. ¿De dónde es Carlos? ______________________________________

Answer key is included on pages 3-4.

This reading can be used for classwork, homework, quiz, or as part of your sub plans.
