This booklet contains enough work to fill a terms worth of lessons based around Synth Pop with a focus on learning the song “Enola Gay” by Orchestral Movements in the Dark.
It has work on listening skills as well as lyric analysis to encourage students to dissect the song both on a musical and literary level. The chords, melody and rhythms for the piece are all highlighted and there are chord boxes for students to learn the notes of each chord. The three main melodies of the track are written out so group work can be easily achieved by students being given these different roles. There is also a short section on protest music where students are encouraged to support their dissection of the lyrics meaning with direct quotes and analysis.
It is a great resource to use for an entire term or to dip in to for starter tasks and well designed single sheets to take to away to instruments or stick in books.
