This interactive resource supports the teaching of appraising by concentrating on one of the 8 elements of music - texture.
The resource explains that texture is built up in layers. A variety of audio examples are provided to illustrate differences in texture.
Pupils are given the opportunity to arrange a piece, selecting and deselecting layers to alter the texture and see how the piece builds.
Pupils are also given the opportunity to compose their own piece using layers to build texture.
