This is a single worksheet and accompanying PowerPoint to support students revising Act 1 of the play, Macbeth. There is a ‘Revise the Plot’ activity in which students have to delete two of the three alternatives given to find the correct plot; 10 ‘Who? What? Why? When? Where? How?’ questions to further develop understanding; 4 ‘Who says?’ questions and 4 questions about parallel lines in the play. All answers are provided on the PowerPoint which can be used as a lesson in itself; allowing the teacher go through each task and then the answers with the whole class. I wrote this 5 week scheme of work for my GCSE English group. They were struggling with narrative writing and so I wanted to inspire with them with some effective short story writing. So who better than the master of the macabre - Roald Dahl? In this series of lessons students read a range of his stories and many of the tasks are linked to revising key skills that will be used in their Language exams. Included here are the Week 1 lessons.
