This lesson focuses on what features there are in a Vahara. It is suitable for KS3. The ppt. contains the following: A picture connect task to engage students A video task to introduce the topic with some questions. A fact finding activity A differenctiated written task. These resources are for use in GCSE/Junior Cycle Classes. There are 3 different sheets, each one representing a Halloween character in which students are asked to write about the character. To help there are a series of questions and also a box for key words. I have a low ability class so we scaffolded everything on the board first and they filled in their key word box before they began the task. It has worked a treat. as there are copyrighted clip art used these are in .pdf format only. If there are any mistakes, please email and i will correct immediately. Los Animales - Matching Cards

Sometimes at the end of a lesson it’s nice for students to show their knowledge/learning in a way that does not involve you marking or students writing. I also find that for some students, written knowledge checkers can place them under unnecessary pressure, especially when you have just introduced a topic. These matching cards are fun for students and can be used as a challenge task, a group activity, a starter or a plenary. I like printing and laminating various copies and placing students in groups. We have competitions to see which group can finish first. There are 23 animals in this set. Please note that these files are .pdf only.

It contains notes on formation of the tense, a worksheet that accompanies the lesson and also a selection of note sheets such as irregular verbs, a progress tracker and a revision mat. The work sheets are in .doc format to edit and rework depending on your needs and also in .pdf. This ensures that when printing, all the worksheet is printed and none of the margins are missing.

Lá Fhéíle Vailintín Valentine's day (As Gaeilge)

These are simple resources to introduce the topic of St. Valentines Day in Irish. This resource contains three activities: Heart Emojis: This s a nice simple task where students match the heart emoji to the feeling it represents. This is lovely for reinforcing the idea of ‘AR’ and also for revision of ‘móthúcháin’ Matching Cards: WIth this resource I have attached two files. One bank and one filled it. Sometimes my students like to wrote their own vocabulary down so they can write the phonetic pronounciation below. These are great for teaching the initial vocabulary, then asking the students to chop everything up and have a go at matching it themselves. There are so many games you can play with cards like these and they are a class favourite for my younger year groups for acquiring new vocabulary. Fill in the Blanks: I don’t think it needs explaining. Great for a plenary. Challenge the students by asking them to do it without their notes. PLEASE NOTE THESE ARE.PDF’s ONLY!!! Happy Valentine’s Day! Be sure to check out my other Valentine’s Day resources:)

Tórthaí & Glasraí Fruit & Vegetables Vocab Booklet

This wee booklet is good for vocabulary acquisition. Rather than giving students list of vocabulary and getting them to use it or just learn it, i like to scaffold for my less able pupils. I generally find with these tasks their retention is better. I then use these. I love using these type of activities for starters and plenaries too when we’re progressing to full sentences or fully written pieces. The .PDF contains: One sheet of fruit pictures where students can look up vocab or you can provide it. One sheet of vegetables pictures where students can look up vocab or you can provide it. Fill in the gaps using the vocab. A word search Translation activity. (I divide my class and let more able work by themselves and I scaffold with less able) A game of X’s and 0’s. There are 4 games. These are great to test their knowledge and fun too. Any issues email claddaghclassrooms@gmail.com and i’ll resolve them within 24 hours. Bain taitneamh as!

Lá Fhéile Pádraig Display - St. Patrick's Day Display as Gaeilge

UPDATED 2020 Simple display cards to get your room and your students in the festive Irish spirit. My students love St. Patrick’s Day and the display is nice when surrounded by students work. Alternatively use the activity attached also. I use these as a game first to introduce the vocabulary to my students. They are placed around my room and students are given a list of St. Patrick’s Day vocabulary in English. They then have to find the Irish equivalent. It’s nice to watch students discover the vocabulary themselves as opposed to looking at a PowerPoint and writing everything down in a vocabulary book. Once the lesson is finished they can go onto a display board. Please note this is a .pdf only:) Bain taitneamh as:)

These are wee little cards that i print back to back, laminate and give them to my pupils. I expect that they try to use them when they’re communicating with me in lessons and I always have rewards on hand when they do. I love that they fit into their pencil cases and are with the students no matter what lesson they’re in. I find them so effective! Bain taitneamh as:)
