Large Data Set Quiz - Edexcel A Level Maths
This is a quiz, split into three rounds, on the Large Data Set from Edexcel for the A Level Mathematics course.
The 3 rounds are:
• Round 1 = Locations.
Questions ensure that students know which locations are covered by the large data set and where these locations are found.
• Round 2 = Variables.
Which variables are given for each of the different locations?
• Round 3 = Units and Data
Which units are used for each of the variables and some specific questions on some anomalies in the weather or data?
The quiz is presented in a variety of formats to allow for different methods of delivery to a class:
• Just The Questions
Suitable for administering the quiz in a test format. One file has all rounds in it, and there are three separate files for individual rounds.
• PowerPoints
Two versions of each round have been provided. One where each question is given followed immediately by the answer, and one where all answers are saved until the end of the PowerPoint.
• Answer Sheets
These can be used alongside the PowerPoints, or if the test is being delivered orally.
• Questions And Answers
All questions and answers provided together, either on multiple sheets, or all on one sheet.
Circle Theorems Revision Sheet - Publisher version
This sheet is for KS4 revision purposes and contains all of the circle theorems on a single page, clearly presented.
Student Test Tracking Spreadsheet v3.5 - multiple tests
This spreadsheet will allow you to track the performance of up to 40 students for up to 10 tests. It will automatically calculate totals, percentages, grades (according to grade boundaries that you specify), comparisons to target grades, averages etc. It will also colour code performances on questions against the maximum marks available and provide you with the opportunity to print out individually tailored feedback sheets to your students.
I have found that this gives me an excellent method for communicating with students about their relative performance, rather than simply telling them that they have achieved 58% for example.
The file will come to you as a password protected document. The reason for this is so that it is not possible to make changes to the formulae and thus make it so that it does not work. You do not need to unprotect it to make full use of it, but just in case you wish to make changes, the password for the file is “table”.
I have made a video demonstrating it and telling you how to use it, which can be found at:
https://youtu.be/-_PgyXItLik
I also have a smaller version, available here on the TES website, for the analysis of just one test.
The Greek Alphabet - large
Upper and lower case forms for all letters of the Greek alphabet, with their names. I find this useful to have up in Maths classrooms, but obviously can be used for languages or any other suitable subject. This is scaled to fit with two letters per A4 page and is 12 pages in length.
Maths quotes and inspirational posters
This is a collection of 15 posters containing quotes from a variety of mathematicians and other notable people, concerning Mathematics and inspirational things to think about success and failure. A useful addition to any classroom.
Circle Theorem Revision Sheet - Word version
A one page sheet showing all of the circle theorems clearly to aid revision. For KS4.
25 Challenging Maths Puzzles for KS3, 4 and 5
This document contains 25 different Maths puzzles, with answers, that provide good challenges to students of all levels. All are accessible to the weakest students, but challenging to even the highest performers. I regularly use them as fillers, homeworks and conversation starters.
Student Test Tracking spreadsheet - single test
This spreadsheet will allow you to greater analyse the performance of your students in a test. It will automatically calculate totals, percentages, grades (according to grade boundaries that you specify) etc. It will also colour-code performances on questions against the maximum marks available and provide you with the opportunity to print out individually tailored feedback sheets to your students.

I have made a video demonstrating it and telling you how to use it, which can be found at:

I also have a larger version available, also on the TES website, for the analysis of up to ten tests, allowing you to compare a student or class throughout those tests.
Big M Method for Simplex Algorithm (PowerPoint)
This PowerPoint will guide you through an example of using the Big M Method for solving simplex algorithm problems with “greater than or equals to” constraints.
There is a video of the PowerPoint being used available at the link below.

Simplex Algorithm - Integer Solutions powerpoint
This powerpoint will go through the main points when dealing with an integer solution constrained simplex algorithm problem.
A video of the powerpoint in use can be found at the address below:

Kruskal's Algorithm PowerPoint
A presentation showing how to use Kruskal’s Algorithm. A video demonstrating the use of the presentation can be found at the address below:
https://youtu.be/Mrb61iGXUFk
The Planarity Algorithm
A PowerPoint demonstrating how to use the Planarity Algorithm for Decision Maths. A video of the presentation being used can be found at the address below:

Incorrect Mathematical Proofs Posters
This is a collection of three posters, each containing an incorrect conclusion from a seemingly correct proof. I have used them as good starter activities with classes to get them thinking about how they prove concepts and how to find errors. The proofs included show that 1=2, 3=0 and 1+2+3+4+…=-1/12.
The Greek Alphabet - small
Upper and lower case forms for all letters of the Greek alphabet, with their names. I find this useful to have up in Maths classrooms, but obviously can be used for languages or any other suitable subject. This is scaled to fit on three A4 sheets.
Growth Mindset Display - learning a new skill. (Can be adapted to any subject)
This flowchart display can either be printed out as a single sheet poster, or as individual components of the flowchart to be stuck to the wall. Both types are included in the resource file. It shows the methodology behind learning and acquiring a new skill. Whilst the flowchart is written for Mathematics, it can easily be adapted to any subject.
Surprising Maths Results Posters
This file is a collection of posters to be printed out and displayed in your room or around the Maths department. There are 32 posters, each being half an A4 sheet, with examples shown in the cover image photo. The posters cover a wide range of topics with suitable ideas for KS3, 4 and 5. There are numbers at the top of each poster, intended to encourage students to seek out others that they have not seen - we put 5 or so non-sequential posters in each teaching room.
Small Angle Approximations for Trigonometry
A spreadsheet that allows you to select the trigonometric function that you need (cell F1), and then a graph is automatically generated to show you the value of theta compared to the trig approximation, also calculating % error
Decision Maths Algorithms, Glossaries and Video Links
This document provides a glossary for Decision Maths algorithms and ideas, with links to YouTube videos demonstrating how to perform those algorithms.
The Order of an Algorithm
A brief 2-slide powerpoint illustrating the order of algorithms. For use in Decision Maths.
Decision Maths 1 Algorithms Videos
This sheet gives links to videos on all 14 of the algorithms that are required for the Edexcel Decision Maths 1 module. Each video gives a demonstration of an individual algorithm, and can be shared with students as a revision resource or used as part of a teaching lesson. Each video can obviously be paused whilst the students work out what is coming next, or rewound to hear an explanation again.
The algorithms are:
Full Bin, First Fit, First Fit Decreasing, Bubble Sort, Quick Sort, Binary Search, Kruskal's, Prim's, Prim's - Matrix Method, Dijkstra's, Route Inspection, Maximum Matching, Finding Critical Paths and the Scheduling Procedure.
