SPAG SATs Analysis Spreadsheet - Sample Paper
I searched everywhere for a SAT Analysis Grid for the Y6 SPAG sample paper (published July 2015) and was unable to find one - so have created one.
I hope it is useful.

Planning for Writing
This presentation reinforces the importance of planning before writing and revises the ingredients of a successful, good quality story. There is an emphasis on story structure and language features. t is intended as a revision tool and could be used before a story writing Big Write. There is a planning sheet included on the power point.
Direct and Reported Speech & Verb Tenses
This powerpoint revises the rules for changing direct speech to reported speech and vice versa. The focus is on what changes i.e. inverted commas, pronouns and verb tenses.
This is ideal for introducing the names of different verb tenses to Years 5 and 6 and gives the opportunity for pupils to practice changing speech from direct to reported as well as identifying the verb tenses.
Some of the example sentences are based on the book 'Street Child' and the resource was created as part of a unit writing a newspaper report. However - it can be used as a stand alone lesson.
Written Calculation Methods
This resource is an animated demonstration of extended written methods of calculation which aim to give children a secure understanding of how calculations work before progressing to standard short written methods. The slides demonstrate each calculation as a clear, step by step process. The presentation can be used to teach or revise written methods in each operation and can also be printed as posters for class reference.

Included in this collection are differentiated worksheets for both multiplying and dividing fractions.
The worksheets are aimed at Upper Key Stage 2 and should be used after teacher input on multiplying and dividing fractions in order to practice skills and provide evidence of understanding and success.
The worksheets are differentiated as Age Related, Easier and Harder. The Easier sheet includes an example and a step by step guide for success. The Harder worksheets include more complicated calculations which require good knowledge of times tables and multiplication.
There is also a sheet of mixed multiplication and division word problems for children to solve in groups, after highlighting key information and agreeing the operation. An answer key is included.

Easier Worksheet - 12 questions subtracting fractions with the same and different denominators. Completed examples are included for support.
Age Related Worksheet - 20 questions adding fractions with the same and different denominators, mixed numbers and improper fractions. Some of these are quite challenging!
Harder Worksheet - As above but more challenging and subtracting larger groups of fractions.
It is intended that pupils are already secure with converting mixed number and improper fractions as well as simplifying fractions before using these worksheets for subtracting fractions.

Claude Monet, Impressionism and Watercolours
This presentation gives an overview of the life of Claude Monet and introduces the Impressionist Movement in art. It includes several examples of his work and discusses his techniques and colour palette. Towards the end of the presentation, students are encouraged to recreate Monet's style using watercolor paints and slides include tips and instruction on how to use watercolour paints effectively. This resource may also be used to support biography writing as part of an English/Art theme.
Shape - Translation
This resource introduces translation of shape clearly and simply. It can be used to demonstrate translation by moving shapes on a grid and children then have the opportunity to give original and new co-ordinates. Key shape vocabulary is reinforced: vertices, congruent, co-ordinates, position, translate/translation.
The worksheet that accompanies this resource can be found on the final slide and used to address any misconceptions through discussion as a plenary. A PDF of the resource is included.

The Moon
This engaging presentation is packed with information and interesting facts about the moon. It dispels some moon myths and gives an explanation of the phases of the moon. The final slide of the presentation contains a quick quiz which gives children the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding. The presentation may be used with the whole class as an introduction to the moon or made accessible to children for their own research. This presentation could also be used as an example of a non-chronological report during an English/Science lesson.
The Solar System
This is an engaging and informative presentation packed with facts about the planets in our solar system. It includes a page about each of the planets as well as other fascinating solar system facts.
This clear and colourful presentation includes navigation buttons so that it does not need to be read in linear style and could be used as a whole class introduction to the solar system or made accessible to children for their own research. The final slide contains a quiz based on information within the presentation, complete with navigation button s leading to the appropriate pages in order to check answers.
This presentation could also be used as an example of a non-chronological report during an English and Science linked lesson.
Art: Perspective & Victorian Architecture
This powerpoint presentation demonstrates the step by step techniques of drawing in 1 point and 2 point perspective. Essential vocabulary is introduced: linear perspective, vanishing point, orthogonal lines.
The presentation progresses into identifying and drawing typical features of Victorian architecture.
The final task is for pupils to design a Victorian house and draw it using either 1 point or 2 point perspective, including some typical Victorian features.
My Y6 class have loved learning how to draw in perspective and have produced some amazing artwork.
Any pictures used in this presentation were freely available online.
Y6 REVISION - Number and Place Value
An engaging presentation which revises key objectives of number and place value including:
… read, write, order and compare whole numbers (up to 10 000 000) and decimals
… determine the value of each digit in whole numbers and decimals
There is also a quick activity to practice multiplying and dividing whole numbers and decimals by 10, 100 and 1000.
Throughout the presentation, each concept is explored with examples. Opportunities for children to discuss concepts and practice examples are built in to each slide and answers are provided.
A work sheet covering each aspect of the above is included which can be used as an assessment task.

Ordering Fractions using Common Denominator
Great for Year 5 or 6 !
An engaging, animated power point presentation which clearly demonstrates the step by step process of Ordering Fractions. Essential mathematical vocabulary is revised including: equivalent fractions, common multiple, common denominator, numerator and denominator. Children are given opportunities to practice skills and explain their reasoning through short tasks and talk partner activities.
The accompanying worksheet allows children to choose practice questions according to their confidence. There are also word problems and extension tasks for the most confident to tackle.
Children are encouraged to evaluate their understanding and make suggestions for further competence with ordering fractions.
A Teacher Handout is also included in resources for reference.

This presentation revises pronouns with a particular focus on:

It includes opportunities for children to identify the pronouns and insert the correct pronoun into sentences. There are SATs practice questions included on some of the slides.
To accompany the presentation I have created a work sheet of pronoun SATs questions for children to practice the different question types that could arise.
Ancient Greek Pottery
This presentation contains a wealth of information about Ancient Greek Pottery and includes a variety of examples. It discusses origin of shape and design of plates and vases and explains their uses and decorative style. It is intended as background information leading to students creating their own clay artifact . The presentation could be used over a course of lessons where students draw designs and practice patterns before making their final piece. A PDF of the presentation is included in resources.
Properties of 2D and 3D Shapes
This engaging and colourful presentation introduces the properties of 2D and 3D shapes and explains essential vocabulary clearly.
The presentation is in two parts: 2D and 3D which could be used over the course of a unit of maths about properties of shape. There is the opportunity for children to sort shapes by property by completing a Carroll Diagram and the final slides encourage children to name shapes after being given the properties.
The resource could be used to introduce or revise properties of shape. A handout of the presentation has also been included for teacher reference.

Divisibility Rules
This resource encourages children to investigate divisibility rules by trying out ideas, testing numbers and discovering rules. During the lesson, children are encouraged to work together and share ideas as well as explain their reasoning and find examples which satisfy the rule. This resource serves to deepen children's understanding of how numbers work and therefore moves them a step closer to mastery in number. The resource includes a smart notebook file, an explanation of the divisibility rules for numbers 1-10, clues to offer those who are stuck and an extension activity for high flyers. A Teacher handout is also included.

Ideal for Year 6 revision of factors, primes and composite numbers.
An engaging, animated 17 slide presentation introducing Prime Factors.
This presentation covers a whole lesson, which revises the key vocabulary of factor, prime number, composite number and product through mini starter activities.
The lesson begins with revision of factors and an activity to find prime numbers. It builds to introducing prime factors and demonstrates how to use factor trees to find the prime factors of a number. It includes whole class, paired and individual tasks and ends with a plenary where children are challenged to match the correct number with its prime factors.
A handout of the presentation is also included for reference.

FRACTIONS - Multiply & Divide
Y6 SATs Revision
This colourful and engaging power point presentation demonstrates the step by step process of multiplying and dividing fractions. Multiplying and dividing whole numbers and fractions by proper fractions, improper fractions and mixed numbers are included - covering NC objectives from Year 5 and Year 6.
There are also slides which revise simplifying fractions and converting mixed numbers and improper fractions.Mathematical vocabulary is reinforced , encouraging children to discuss definitions. A contents page includes hyperlinks to each slide allowing you to skip or repeat activities as required.
The presentation would be helpful in explaining new concepts as well as revising previous knowledge as part of a whole class session. There are built in opportunities for pupils to discuss ideas in pairs, share reasoning and practice short activities independently. Some deeper 'mastery' questions are included to help children connect learning and there are a couple word problems to solve. A matching activity completes the unit, which could be a couple of days or a week. Children are encouraged to evaluate their understanding when they have completed the unit.
