I am a KS1 teacher with experience in Leeds, Wakefield, Nottingham and Preston. Currently teaching year 1 in Northampton. I found a huge lack of suitable resources, so instead of creating quick resources to use and chuck, I dedicated my time to creating quality resources based on what my classroom needed. Everything I sell has been used in my own classroom, is based on the national curriculum/letters and sounds phonics scheme, and is presented to a high quality. Please leave feedback!

Read each word and decide whether it has the target phoneme in it. If it does, they place it in the column headed ‘ar’. If it doesn’t, they place it in the column headed ‘not ar’. For added challenge, they can write out the words in each column instead. Aside from your standard sorting activity, this has been successfully used as a relay race/scavenger hunt. Hide the cards around the classroom, send the children off to look for them in relay fashion or in teams. A taster of a larger word sort package available in my shop. As always, this resource is made using the OpenDyslexic font. We are dyslexia friendly!

Speedy Readies! The more your littlies practice reading a word, the more likely they are to remember it and recognise it in sentences. Give them tonnes of fluency practice by using these Speedy Readies! Just put your littlies in pairs, assign each a colour (either green or blue) and get them to read their coloured words in order. Give them a minute to see how far they can read, then try again to see if they can beat it. They'll get plenty of practice saying each word, stronger readers can lead the weaker, and they have loads of fun trying to beat their time. Use in phonics lessons, literacy centres, word work sessions, as guided reading prompts or as assessment to see which words you littlies need more practice with. This pack contains all 100 of the second 100 HFW / sight words, split into four Speedy Ready sheets. The pack includes: - Instructions and tips for playing. - Four Speedy Ready sheets.

Phonics - Phase 5 - Word Sort

Phase 5 Phonics Word Sorts! Word sorts for all 19 of the phase 5 phonemes. Contains one sorting table, 14 word cards with the target sound, and 14 word cards without the target sound, for each phoneme. Always a favourite in my classroom. The children get plenty of practice identifying a phoneme and segmenting, blending and reading words. Great for independent and guided work. Made using OpenDyslexic - a font designed to help dyslexic children. This has no adverse effects on children who do not have dyslexia, so it’s a win-win!

A sneak preview of the package of phoneme spotters! A group of aliens called the Yidiv have crash landed on Earth and they want to tell you all about themselves and their experience. Here's a sneaky preview of what Vorst has to say! Each phoneme has a monster with their own individual story to match. Each story features multiple examples of the target phoneme. I've tried to keep as many words as possible to phase 3 sounds, so your children can read and enjoy the stories. As always, my products are made using the OpenDyslexic font, to help our dyslexic learners. We are dyslexia friendly!
