Charge of the Light Brigade by Alfred Lord Tennyson is a fantastic piece that conveys ideas of patriotism, bravery and heroism. This fully differentiated and resourced ‘ready to go’ lesson on Tennyson’s Charge of the Light Brigade, one of the poems in the AQA Power and Conflict Poetry Anthology, with the lesson ideally suited for both KS3 and KS4 students, includes activities to help students engage with the themes and perspectives in the poem, but also allows students to start making comparisons between this poem and Ted Hughes’ Bayonet Charge.

Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde introduction that approaches context and introduces students to duality, as well as asking them to express their ideas on human nature and humanity’s relationship with good and evil. The lesson uses the example of Phineas Gage to get students to think about mind and personality. A fully differentiated and resourced introductory lesson to Robert Louis Stevenson’s The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
